The responsibilities of the Vice President position are as follows:

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary strategic partner to clients throughout the search process, leading day-to-day interaction with executive leadership, hiring managers, and HR/recruiting business partners
  • Manage a full book of concurrent searches with a high degree of organization and attention to detail, overseeing the recruitment process end-to-end including scheduling, weekly client briefings, candidate preparation, reference checks, detailed reference reporting, and support through offer negotiation and start date
  • Partner closely with the CEO, Managing Director, and project management staff to provide direction, ensure alignment on search strategy, and support the overall quality and consistency of client and candidate service
  • Identify and communicate continuous improvement opportunities and strategies that strengthen client relationships and lead to additional search engagements
  • Maintain ongoing relationships with hiring managers, placed candidates, and HR/recruiting contacts to anticipate future hiring needs and potential skill gaps
  • Alongside project management and research staff, develop and implement multi-channel search strategies, drawing on marketplace knowledge to efficiently identify and engage the best talent for each client's current and future needs
  • Effectively communicate each opportunity and client value proposition to potential candidates, develop strong candidate relationships and ensure a thoughtful and high touch candidate experience from first contact through placement
  • Use competency and unbiased interviewing to identify, differentiate, and present the strongest candidates through the short list process
  • Provide timely, constructive, and consistent communication with candidates throughout the process to maintain engagement and manage expectations
  • Develop and maintain a referral network, proactively seeking referrals to strengthen the candidate pipeline over time
  • Excitement about new technology, including a willingness to embrace AI tools designed to increase efficiency, while recognizing that these tools are meant to support and never replace the human judgment, relationships, and expertise that are central to Chaloner's work

Ideal Experience

  • 8+ years of recruiting and business development experience in a client-facing role, with the ability to consistently manage client relationships and expectations in a timely, professional, and responsive manner throughout the recruitment process for mission-driven or social impact clients

Ideally, this person will possess an entrepreneurial mindset with the drive to compete for (and a strong desire to win) new business, a passion for relationship building, and an ability to convert business
  • A clear commitment to inclusive search, interviewing free of bias, and developing diverse candidate pools. This person must operate with a genuine commitment to equity and a demonstrated effort to minimize bias and ensure a fair, consistent experience for every candidate
  • A problem solver who listens closely to a client's needs and creatively strategizes where and how to source candidates that match those requirements with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Builds trust easily with both clients and candidates by listening to and understanding their goals
  • Mission-aligned, personable, and highly motivated with the ability to thrive in a collaborative environment that offers a high degree of autonomy
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field required
