Chaloner has partnered with Browning Environmental Communications on their search for a Vice President. Senior Account Supervisor level candidates will also be considered. This role will be based in Browning's Washington, DC or Boston, MA offices, though strong candidates in other geographies will also be considered.

We have deep knowledge, networks, and expertise in environmental topics including clean water and air, clean energy, climate, circular economy, environmental markets, sustainable land management, climate resilience, and more. 


Browning Environmental Communications is seeking a Vice President (or Senior Account Supervisor) with expertise in carbon markets to oversee accounts in the U.S. and support business development.



Responsibilities and Scope:

  • U.S. new business development: agency proposals, negotiation, and securing business.
  • Project managing retained or project-based strategic communications assignments, including research, strategy, branding, messaging, content, and outreach across all media, with a U.S. or international focus.
  • Coordinating with senior representatives of clients day-to-day and processing their changing needs.
  • Managing delivery of work remote/hybrid team members to the highest quality.
  • Hiring and developing junior talent.
  • Contributing to agency knowledge management systems.
  • Supporting development of U.S. marketing materials.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Strong ambassador for the company among policy, NGO, and IGO audiences.
  • An inspiring leader, prepared to support a growing U.S. team.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills are essential.
  • 7+ years’ experience of strategic communications and media relations in relevant spaces.
  • 4+ years’ experience in a managerial position at a major communications agency.
  • Deep knowledge of topics such as clean energy, circular economy, sustainable finance, sustainable agriculture, etc.
  • Understanding of U.S. political landscape related to clean energy and the environment, a plus.
  • Creative storyteller who can translate complex topics for media, social media, opinion desks, and other external audiences.
  • Proficient in the appropriate use of AI tools, where applicable.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communications in English.
  • Great references.

Salary and Benefits

Base salary: $145,000-155,000 for VP-level. The firm offers competitive base salary, bonus,  commissions  and strong benefits including healthcare and 401(k) match.
