Job Description

A Senior Civil Engineer with ten to fifteen years of experience for our DC Metro office. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated team player looking for a challenging and rewarding opportunity within a dynamic and progressive firm. The successful individual will work closely with our business development team and other discipline leaders in developing technical proposals and will take a proactive role in marketing/business development. This role provides the opportunity to help build and mentor a dedicated team of engineering professionals within a collaborative multidiscipline office. This candidate will be working directly with clients providing consulting services.

The ideal candidate will have experience in providing engineering for a variety of projects involving in the design of sites, grading, drainage, stormwater management systems, utility infrastructure, erosion control measures and coordinating multifaceted projects. We are seeking innovative, results-oriented individuals who value high standards of performance and collaborative teamwork.

Qualifications

Essential Engineering Skills and Functions:

  • Perform the following functions:
  • Civil analysis, design, and detailing on a variety of projects
  • Manage and design multiple concurrent projects
  • Strong ability to interpret technical drawings
  • Lead design team efforts
  • Manage project team for budget and schedule control
  • Develop fee and qualification-based proposals
  • Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D, and a variety of Civil Engineering design software applications.
  • Proficient in Hydro CAD, Storm CAD and SWWM (or similar) stormwater modeling programs.
  • Technical experience with hydrologic and hydraulic calculations, technical studies, mapping documents, preparation and processing of civil construction documents, and earthwork calculations
  • Stormwater experience in the DC, MD and VA areas preferred
  • Collaborate with the architect, owner, and contractor to provide a well-coordinated and high-quality set of structural drawings.
  • Able to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Possess strong critical thinking, organizational, and analytical abilities.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint software preferred. Must understand database concepts. Working knowledge of marketing databases and proposal resources files.
  • Conduct marketing/business development activities
  • Positive contributor to overall office and department goals, culture, and morale.
  • Ability to travel

 Education/Experience/Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering from an ABET accredited program required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Civil Engineering required
  • 10 to 15 years of applicable industry experience.
  • Experience performing consulting services for internal and external client utilizing Site Grading, Earthwork Calculations, Drainage (Calculations & Reports), erosion and sediment control design and calculations, Utility Layout & Sizing, Technical Report Writing, review and preparation of Technical Specifications, cost estimating, develop project specifications; design for compliance with current applicable federal, state, and local regulations; as well as general civil engineering concepts.
  •  Land development experience in the design of life sciences, commercial, office, higher education, mixed-use, residential, healthcare, municipal, alternative energy (solar, BESS, etc.) and/or Federal projects including:
  • Lead Project Teams to complete project design deliverables.
  • Lead the development of preliminary to final design calculations and drawings.
  • Perform site due diligence and entitlement investigation and reporting.
  • Review field information and perform field inspections of existing stormwater facilities.
  • Perform technical writing for design reports and permitting applications.
  • Desire to lead inter-disciplinary projects and project teams
  • Local AHJ experience and relationships is a plus
  • Active local industry involvement is a plus

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary will be determined based on qualifications and relevant experience.
  • Paid overtime at 1.0 times hourly rate
