Job Title: Senior Crew Chief

Position Summary

The Senior Crew Chief (Level II) is responsible for staking well locations, surveying and establishing section corners, and staking access roads, including slope staking for access roads and well location pads. This position provides daily oversight of assigned Survey Assistants and ensures all work is executed accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with company quality and safety standards.

Reporting Structure

Supervisory Responsibility: None

Reports To: Project Manager, Area Manager, or Regional Manager


Key Responsibilities

  • Stake pipelines and pipeline right-of-ways
  • Prepare topographic surveys and cross-sectioning
  • Perform mathematical calculations, field checks, and manage field data
  • Take accurate and clear field notes and perform note reduction
  • Read and interpret plans and specifications
  • Perform quality control on all work
  • Maintain company equipment and company vehicles
  • Accurately complete time and expense reporting
  • Meet with clients and public landowners as a company representative
  • Perform other related duties as assigned


Education, Skills & Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Background in math, geometry, and trigonometry required
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Level I Senior Crew Chief

Knowledge

  • Strong knowledge of the Oil & Gas surveying industry
  • Expert understanding of sources of measurement errors
  • Advanced knowledge of monumentation, staking, and marking principles

Licensing Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) must meet company requirements throughout employment


Physical & Additional Requirements

  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and lift up to 75 lbs
  • Ability to walk for extended periods and operate ATVs across various terrains
  • Must be dependable, organized, and safety-conscious
  • Strong documentation and inventory control skills
  • Self-driven with the ability to work independently
  • Must participate in the company drug and alcohol compliance program
  • Flexible and adaptable to change


Working Conditions

This position involves both mental and physical labor. Work may be performed indoors or outdoors and is subject to extreme weather conditions and varying terrain. Extended walking and ATV operation may be required.
