Summary / Primary Role:
The Health, Safety, Security, Environmental (HSSE) Manager is responsible for ensuring the organization’s environmental, health, safety, and security programs meet all applicable regulatory requirements and company policies. This role oversees all HSSE and Quality activities at the designated site level, including the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of policies, procedures, training programs, and performance measures. The Manager will collaborate closely with functional areas across the organization to conduct regular walkthrough inspections, audits, task evaluations, incident investigations, compliance testing, and performance reporting. They will ensure that all HSSE and Quality initiatives are effectively implemented, communicated, and maintained. The Manager will work with site leadership and the HSSE team to identify root causes and develop corrective and preventive action plans to mitigate future risks. The HSSE Manager will have a strong working knowledge of regulatory compliance including but not limited to OSHA, DOT, FMCSA, EPA, and other relevant local, state, and federal agencies.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
· Implement and oversee all Health, Safety, Security, Quality and Environmental programs at local designated sites in accordance with corporate guidelines.
· Safeguard the organization's compliance with all governing regulatory requirements.
· Evaluate, identify, and ensure operations follow and adhere to proven and standardized HSSE procedures, policies and rules by all employees, visitors, customers, and contractors
· Conduct regular audits and efficiency tests to identify substandard procedures or behaviors, and develop corrective actions in collaboration with site management and leadership
· Coordinate coaching efforts by developing essential documentation and tools to support risk assessments, safe work practices, and incident/near-miss reporting and investigations
· Develop and maintain compliance related policies, procedures based on HSSE, Regulatory and Quality requirements including the review and revision of standard operating procedures, manuals, and documentation
· Provide health and safety directions, assistance and support for corrective actions and recommendations to assure adequate improvements
· Foster a proactive safety culture by leading initiatives that promote employee engagement, accountability, and continuous improvement in health, safety, and environmental practices.
· Develop and implement site workplace inspections and audits to identify workplace hazards and risks to provide quality mitigation controls and determine trends for remediation
· Responsible for ensuring employees receive training in HSSE related topics including all Occupational Safety and Health Association (OSHA), Quality, Department of Transportation (DOT), International Air
Transport Association (IATA), and Dangerous/Hazardous Goods Training
· Document and monitor shipment errors, including damage, overages, shortages, quality issues, and investigation findings
· Represent the company to outside agencies and auditors on HSSE related matters
· Support the operations by maintaining regulatory documentation and records for reporting to regulatory bodies prior to deadlines
· Coordinate with local management and corporate procurement to ensure employees have appropriate safety equipment and supplies
· Oversee and support all administrative functions related to Hazard Communication, including training and management of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for new products and customers
· Review and assist in the development of new facilities and processes to ensure optimum HSSE practices are integrated as a part of the change
· Support the selection and management of consultants and contractors for specialized HSSE programs, including the Responsible Care Management System (RCMS) program
· Drafts and maintains logs, records, and other documentation of testing procedures, methodologies, and criteria.
· Monitor and report on safety metrics, nonconformances, trends, and underlying causes of defects with proposed solutions and corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
· Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Key Skills:
· Minimum of 5 + years’ experience in Occupational Safety and Health Operations.
· Professional certification required: Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Occupational Hygiene and Safety Technician (OHST), or an equivalent recognized safety certification
· A degree in Operations Management, Safety Management, or Business Management is preferred.
· Working knowledge of OSHA, DOT, FMCSA, and EPA rules and regulations.
· Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
· Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
· Ability to manage multiple priorities at any given time.
· Flexibility to be on call in response to the needs of the business.

Supervisory Responsibility:
This position will not have supervisory responsibilities.
Expected Hours of Work:
Employees must work a minimum of thirty (30) hours each week to maintain full-time status for benefits purposes, however the expectations of the position will require an average of forty (40) hours with overtime required as scheduled.
Travel Requirements:
Approximately 50% of travel will be required.
