About the Job:

As a Business Development Representative (BDR), you’ll be the first point of contact for prospective shippers, responsible for generating new business opportunities and building strong relationships. You’ll prospect target accounts, identify customer needs, and position Odyssey’s brokerage solutions to drive growth. This role requires resilience, strong communication skills, and a passion for consultative selling in a fast-paced logistics environment.

In This Role, You Will:

  • Prospect mid-market shippers using calls, emails, LinkedIn, and digital tools.
  • Research industries and supply chain profiles to design effective outreach campaigns.
  • Create and maintain a qualified pipeline of opportunities, including RFPs and project-based freight.
  • Lead discovery conversations to uncover customer challenges and align Odyssey solutions.
  • Deliver tailored proposals, pricing strategies, and service presentations.
  • Collaborate with operations and account management to ensure seamless onboarding.
  • Act as primary relationship manager during customer onboarding before handoff to Account Management.
  • Monitor shipment activity to validate pricing, service levels, and carrier compliance.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records of contacts, opportunities, and pipeline stages.
  • Report on prospecting activity, conversion metrics, and pipeline health.

Requirements:

  • 2–4 years of experience in freight brokerage or 3PL sales preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Demonstrated success in B2B sales with moderately complex cycles.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to influence decision-makers.
  • Familiarity with truckload, LTL, expedited, or intermodal freight.
  • Proficiency in CRM platforms (Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite.

Desired:

  • Experience managing early-stage customer relationships.
  • Knowledge of competitive landscape in freight brokerage.
  • Prior experience in pipeline development and consultative sales.
