About the Job

The Carrier Development Manager, Drayage will focus on identifying, onboarding, and managing carrier partners to ensure reliable capacity, competitive pricing, and exceptional service levels. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the drayage and intermodal market, excellent relationship-building skills, and the ability to use data to drive results.

In This Role, You Will:

  • Identify, recruit, and onboard new carrier partners to expand network capabilities.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with asset-based and independent carriers to support volume growth, reliability, and cost efficiency.
  • Collaborate across procurement and operations to align carrier capacity with current and forecasted demand.
  • Evaluate carrier performance through KPIs such as on-time performance, service failures, and cost metrics; implement improvements where needed.
  • Manage carrier scorecards, ensuring compliance with safety, insurance, and service standards.
  • Negotiate competitive rates and contract terms to drive margin improvement and service quality.
  • Build a diversified, strategic carrier portfolio across regions, equipment types, and service offerings.
  • Provide guidance to the pricing department regarding customer rates and equipment cost factors.
  • Serve as liaison between carriers and internal teams to resolve service disruptions or capacity constraints.
  • Partner with IT teams to automate onboarding, rate updates, and performance tracking.
  • Perform all other duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role, including at least 5 years in management.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel).
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.
  • Strong time management and multi-tasking skills.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Transportation, Business, or a related field.
  • Experience in intermodal/drayage carrier procurement and development.

Compensation

Base Pay Range: $88,500 – $119,500 per year

(Final compensation may vary based on experience, skills, and location.)
