Location:

This is an in-office role based in Kennesaw, GA, USA.

Schedule:

This is a full-time, exempt role requiring a minimum of 30 hours per week for benefits eligibility, with an expected average of 40 hours per week. Additional hours may be required based on shipment volume and business needs.

About the Job:

The Carrier Sales Representative (CSR) is responsible for securing reliable carrier capacity and ensuring flawless execution of customer freight. This role blends strategic carrier sourcing, fast-paced decision-making, and relationship management to drive service reliability and cost efficiency. Acting as a liaison between Odyssey’s sales, operations, and carrier networks, the CSR manages real-time execution while building long-term carrier partnerships. This role performs routine assignments while expanding conceptual knowledge and developing skills for career growth.

In This Role, You Will:

Carrier Sourcing & Load Coverage

  • Secure capacity for same-day and lead-time shipments across multiple transportation modes.
  • Execute 15+ unique daily outbound carrier calls, presenting competitive rate offers per load.
  • Prebook at least 70% of lead-time shipments (48+ hours) to optimize pricing and service.
  • Escalate uncovered loads within 12 hours of pickup to prevent service failures.

Communication & Issue Management

  • Proactively escalate capacity issues, delays, or fall-offs within 15 minutes of identification.
  • Coordinate recovery solutions and communicate contingency plans to internal teams and customers.
  • Facilitate dispatch confirmations and check calls at key shipment milestones.

Tracking & Documentation

  • Record IN/OUT times and milestone updates within 2 hours of events.
  • Maintain complete, accurate load records and tracking notes in the TMS.
  • Document accessorials, delays, and shipment exceptions clearly.

Escalation & Incident Resolution

  • Acknowledge service failures immediately and initiate corrective actions within 15 minutes.
  • Ensure leadership, operations, and customers are informed within 30 minutes, with updates through resolution.
  • Support claims and billing discrepancy resolution within defined SLAs.

Performance Review & Continuous Improvement

  • Participate in bi-weekly performance reviews focused on carrier performance and execution quality.
  • Provide feedback to improve sourcing strategies, pricing alignment, and carrier reliability.
  • Contribute to process improvements that enhance efficiency and customer outcomes.

Requirements:

  • 1–3 years of experience in carrier sales, freight brokerage, or logistics operations preferred.
  • Strong negotiation and relationship management skills with carrier market knowledge.
  • Familiarity with TMS platforms, load boards (DAT, Truckstop), and tracking tools (MacroPoint, FourKites).
  • Ability to operate with urgency in high-pressure, time-sensitive environments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).

Desired:

  • Experience supporting high-volume brokerage or managed transportation operations.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess carrier trends and performance.
  • Demonstrated accountability and ownership of execution outcomes.
  • Collaborative mindset with a customer-service orientation.
