Location:

This is a remote role; however, candidates must reside in Chicago, IL, or the surrounding area.


Schedule:

Full-time, remote schedule with flexibility to support client needs and business growth.



About the Job:

The Sales Manager is responsible for identifying and closing new business opportunities, driving sales activities, and delivering successful results. Acting as a trusted advisor, this role will engage new customers, cross-sell Odyssey’s freight and logistics services, and achieve revenue goals by building strong relationships and navigating complex buying processes.

In This Role, You Will:

  • Meet assigned net revenue goals through new logo client acquisition.
  • Develop and execute sales plans to exceed established sales targets.
  • Build and maintain a qualified sales pipeline across Odyssey’s logistics services.
  • Strengthen business relationships with customers to promote Odyssey’s portfolio.
  • Navigate complex buying committees, developing relationships with decision-makers.
  • Update and forecast opportunities in Salesforce with accuracy.
  • Drive results by addressing client objections, tracking issues, and ensuring closure.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to remove barriers and provide client solutions.
  • Participate in contract negotiations with clients and legal counsel.
  • Prepare financial proposals for new business opportunities.
  • Travel as necessary to support client acquisition and relationship development.

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field.
  • 10+ years of logistics sales and relationship management experience.
  • Proven track record of success in closing freight management opportunities.
  • Multi-modal experience in TL, LTL, Partial Truckload, and Expedite.
  • Experience with Salesforce, PowerPoint, Excel, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and networking skills.
  • Ability to travel as needed.

Must-Have:

  • Experience delivering logistics solutions and services to middle-market companies.
  • Strong background in complex contract negotiations.
  • Ability to prepare financial proposals for clients.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify issues, remove roadblocks, and create innovative solutions.
  • Excellent collaboration skills with internal and external stakeholders.

Preferred:

  • MBA or advanced degree.
  • Experience specifically selling solutions with a TMS technology component.
  • Knowledge of chemical logistics services and specialized freight solutions.
  • Strong analytical skills with proven ability to drive process improvements.
