Schedule: Full-time, onsite, day shift with occasional evening or weekend hours as required.

About the Job:

The Mechanic will work in conjunction with other mechanics to perform regular inspections, routine maintenance, and repairs on company tractors and trailers in compliance with Federal and State regulations.

In This Role, You Will:

  • Adhere to maintenance, shop rules, and safety regulations
  • Establish and maintain relationships with co-workers and drivers
  • Review work orders and discuss tasks with supervisors and fellow mechanics
  • Follow checklists to inspect belts, hoses, steering systems, spark plugs, brakes, fuel systems, wheel bearings, and other key areas
  • Test and adjust repaired systems to meet manufacturers’ performance specifications
  • Confer with drivers to understand vehicle problems and planned repairs
  • Disassemble units and inspect parts for wear using micrometers, calipers, and gauges
  • Perform troubleshooting and diagnostics on tractors and shop equipment
  • Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and repairs
  • Carry out routine services such as oil changes, lubrication, and tune-ups
  • Make general repairs and adjustments per company and manufacturer specifications
  • Maintain and repair shop equipment
  • Keep a clean and organized work environment
  • Participate in training, safety events, and company meetings as requested
  • Work under the direction of the lead mechanic to ensure quality standards are met

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Two years’ experience as a diesel mechanic, or recent graduate from technical institution
  • Must own and maintain adequate hand tools
  • Knowledge of Federal, State, OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations
  • This position is designated as a safety-sensitive role and requires a 5-panel drug test (including marijuana)
  • Active driver’s license is required; must report any change in status immediately
  • Commercial Driver License (CDL) is preferred

Desired:

  • CDL with driving experience
  • Advanced diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
  • Experience with computerized maintenance systems
