Schedule: Full-time, onsite, day shift with occasional evening or weekend hours as required.

About the Job:

The Mechanic will work in conjunction with other mechanics to perform regular inspections, routine maintenance, and repairs on company tractors and trailers in compliance with Federal and State regulations.

In This Role, You Will:

Overview

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Sr. Mechanic (III) to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of mechanical systems and equipment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background and demonstrate proficiency in using specialized tools, including an ohmmeter, to ensure optimal performance and safety of machinery.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to maintenance, shop rules and safety regulations.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with co-workers(s), and driver(s).
  • Review work orders and discuss work with supervisors and other assigned mechanics.
  • Follow applicable checklists to ensure all important parts are examined, including belts, hoses, steering systems, spark plugs, brake and fuel systems, wheel bearings, and other potentially troublesome areas.
  • Test and adjust repaired systems to meet manufacturers’ performance specifications.
  • Confer with drivers to obtain descriptions of vehicle problems and to discuss work to be performed.
  • Disassemble units and inspect parts for wear using micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
  • Troubleshooting and diagnostic review of issues found with tractors, trailers, and shop equipment.
  • Preventative maintenance inspections and repairs on tractors and trailers.
  • Perform routine maintenance services such as oil changes, lubrications, and tune-ups.
  • Perform inspections, repairs, and maintenance of diesel equipment.
  • Repair and troubleshooting of electrical, cooling, and hydraulic systems on equipment.
  • Diagnose mechanical issues using diagnostic tools and techniques, including the use of an ohmmeter for electrical troubleshooting
  • Perform minor fabrication repairs as needed.
  • Make all other general repairs and/or adjustments on vehicles in accordance with company and manufacturer specifications.
  • Proficient at entry level mechanic duties, including but not limited to fluid changes, preventative maintenance, basic diagnostics, minor repairs, and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to read and comprehend manual, wiring diagrams, schematics, diagnostic tools, etc.
  • Maintain and repair shop equipment.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work environment.
  • Participate in parts inventory when requested.
  • Participate in company training programs, safety events, company functions and meetings when requested.
  • Assist in training and development of new and less experienced mechanics.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years prior experience as a diesel mechanic.
  • A minimum of two years of experience with MIG and TIG welding fabrication.
  • Must own and maintain adequate hand tools.
  • Knowledge of Federal, State, OHSA, EPA and DOT regulations is required.
  • Responsible for periodic driving duties of non-CDL commercial vehicles within the parameters of your job duties, which will further require you to maintain an active driver’s license at all times. Should your driver’s license status change, you are required to report the change to your supervisor immediately.

Desired:

  • CDL with driving experience
  • Advanced diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
  • Experience with computerized maintenance systems
