Based in Fife, WA, Odyssey is on a journey to constantly innovate logistics. We’re actively recruiting for this essential yard operations role because of continued growth and expansion in our Fife terminal, come be a part of our success!

Location: This is an on-site role based in Fife, WA, USA.

Schedule: Full-time (40 hours/week) on a 4x10 schedule, starting at 8:00 AM, Tuesday–Friday (one weekday off; final confirmation TBD).

Base Pay Range: $24–$26/hour

About the Job:

As a Hostler / Yard Tractor Operator, you’ll be responsible for the safe and efficient movement of trailers around the yard and dock areas. Working closely with dock staff and operations, you’ll help keep freight flowing smoothly while ensuring all yard activities meet safety and operational standards.

In This Role, You Will:

• Move trailers in and out of dock doors (both dry and reefer docks).
• Communicate effectively with dock teams to ensure accurate and timely trailer movements.
• Conduct daily yard checks, equipment inspections, and staging organization.
• Manage required paperwork such as seals, locks, and manifests accurately.
• Support forklift operations occasionally (training provided if needed).
• Maintain a high standard of safety and accuracy in all yard operations.

Requirements:

• Prior experience as a hostler, yard driver, or switcher (not an entry-level role).
• High school diploma or GED.
• Demonstrated safe equipment handling and strong situational awareness.
• Reliable and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently or in pairs.

Desired:

• CDL driving experience (city or line haul) or heavy-equipment operating background.
• Forklift certification (preferred; training available internally).
• Experience working in a controlled yard environment prioritizing safety over speed.

Team & Environment:

• Join a team of three hostlers supporting the Fife terminal.
• Work is typically solo or in pairs, depending on workload.
• Yard pace is moderate and safety-focused, emphasizing accuracy and teamwork.
• Standard automatic yard trucks are used; no handling of temperature-controlled freight directly.
