Payroll and Benefits Specialist

Responsibilities:

  • Process semi-monthly payroll for around 600 employees (primarily salaried)
  • Ensure compliance across 4–5 states / multiple office locations
  • Partner with Payroll Manager to transition full ownership of processing
  • Audit payroll data, resolve discrepancies, and maintain clean records
  • Support benefit enrollments, changes, and terminations
  • Assist with open enrollment (both backend processing + employee-facing support)
  • Help communicate timelines, updates, and plan details to employees
  • Participate in vendor/TPA calls and manage plan updates
  • Serve as a key contact for payroll, deductions, and benefits questions
  • Train new hires on payroll/benefits processes
  • Handle sensitive or complex employee situations with professionalism
  • Partner with HR and Accounting on reporting, compliance, and issue resolution
  • Support process improvements and help take work off leadership’s plate


Qualifications:

  • 2–3+ years of experience in payroll, HR, or accounting (with payroll exposure)
  • Experience with multi-state payroll preferred
  • Familiarity with ADP (Workforce Now) strongly preferred
  • High attention to detail + strong problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable working independently in a high-autonomy environment
