OUR VISION

Mend Coffee will partner with an established local roaster to serve specialty coffee under Hope Heals’ already recognizable brand. Utilizing best-in-class equipment and industry training, Mend Coffee will delight customers with signature espresso beverages, and signature specialty coffee blends for customers to enjoy at home or send as a gift. Mend will deliver Southern hospitality in a refined setting. 


In addition to creating a high-end coffee destination, Mend will provide jobs and training opportunities for the chronically underemployed and under-resourced disability community. In the spirit of line blurring, our mission is to employ people with disabilities and also to create a paragon of accessibility in the physical coffee shop space, thus inviting and dignifying both customers with disabilities and those who are typically-abled to come here too. Mend Coffee will be a destination for those of all abilities seeking great coffee, mission-driven retail, and a community hub of belonging and belovedness. 


Mend will utilize reputable local vendors to assemble an offering of freshly-baked goods, along with healthy and indulgent small meals. Mend Coffee and Goods will have a robust retail component stocked with mission-driven gifts, Mend’s coffee and beans, and goods that responsibly support under-represented makers. Mend’s retail will offer its customer a reliable place to find the perfect responsibly sourced gifts, hope-filled care packages and gift boxes, and a variety of thoughtfully curated goods.


JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Title: Community + Program Manager

Location:  Buckhead area of Atlanta, GA

Company:  Mend Coffee, LLC

Classification: Part-Time or Full-Time (flexible)

Salary: $50-65k. Dependent on experience. (pro-rata Part-Time)

Job Purpose: As the Community + Program Manager, you will act as an advocate and first-line support to our employees affected by disability. You will also be responsible for creating and implementing meaningful programs and events that promote inclusivity and support the learning and development of our employees with disabilities. 

Ideal Candidate: As both a start-up and innovative employability concept the advocacy and responsibilities of this role will be ever changing. The ideal candidate will understand their role is to lead in the development and implementation of strategic changes within the business, their roles and the leadership of their team.


Key Responsibilities 

  • Liaison between Mend, LLC and Hope Heals, Inc. for community and programming initiatives
  • Serve as the point person and workplace advocate for the professional and relational success for employees affected by disability
  • Serve as the point person for families of the employee affected by disability as they establish, interact with benefits, transportation, and scheduling
  • Manage creative revenue streams for the coffee shop, such as private room rentals or full space rentals
  • Planning and executing community initiatives to promote inter-ability relationships
  • Coordinate recruitment, training and onboarding, role implementation, continued needs and success assessment, and exit procedure for employees affected by disability
  • Leaders will participate in working shifts at Mend as a best practice of servant leadership and to empower continuous training and development of the Mend team


Necessary:

  • Must have a deep understanding of disability inclusion and community-building, as well as the ability to develop and deliver meaningful programs and events. 
  • Must be passionate about creating a more inclusive and welcoming community
  • Highly organized with administrative experience
  • Training or experience working with disenfranchised groups
  • Personable and highly patient
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to network effectively  
  • Hard working and initiative taking
  • Able to multitask effectively and cope well in a stressful environment
  • Able to work independently and initiate tasks as needed; able to work well in a team
  • Flexible and able to accommodate change


Desirable:

  • Possess a track record of successfully leading community programs and initiatives.
  • Understanding of the food/hospitality industry 
  • Relevant recruitment and/or experience
