Position Overview

The Tax Manager is responsible for the efficient, accurate, and timely preparation and review of complex tax engagements. This role serves as a key technical leader within the tax department and a trusted advisor to clients.


The ideal candidate is a strong technical tax professional who enjoys mentoring staff, managing client relationships, and contributing to practice growth initiatives.

Key Responsibilities


Technical & Client Service

  • Perform technical review and approval of complex tax returns.
  • Oversee and manage governmental tax examinations of varying complexity.
  • Ensure engagements are completed accurately and within budget.
  • Participate in client meetings and provide proactive tax planning strategies.
  • Serve as a technical resource to tax preparers and accounting staff.
  • Represent clients before taxing authorities as needed.
  • Oversee workflow to ensure timely delivery of all tax returns.
  • Evaluate and recommend tax preparation and research software solutions.


Leadership & Team Development

  • Supervise, mentor, and develop Supervising Seniors, Seniors, and Staff.
  • Identify training needs and support professional growth initiatives.
  • Participate in departmental evaluations and performance reviews.


Practice Development

  • Support firm growth through relationship building, networking, and involvement in professional and community activities.


Qualifications

  • 5–7+ years of progressive public accounting tax experience.
  • Strong experience with entity tax returns, including S Corporations and LLCs.
  • Minimum 1 year supervising and directing tax preparers.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; Master’s in Taxation preferred.
  • Active CPA license required.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary: $140K – $185K (DOE)
