The Opportunity
A fast-growing, multi-state technology reseller and services organization is seeking a Vice President of Physical Security to lead and scale an established ~$35M Physical Security / Special Systems business unit.
This is a true business-unit leadership role, not a pure sales position and not a construction-management role. The VP will have accountability for commercial growth, delivery execution, customer outcomes, team performance, and operational maturity. The goal is to build a more scalable and repeatable operating model while growing the business meaningfully beyond its current size.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the overall performance and growth of the Physical Security / Special Systems practice.
- Establish operating discipline around pipeline, backlog, project delivery, risk, margins, and customer issues.
- Drive commercial growth while ensuring sales commitments remain aligned with delivery capacity and profitability.
- Improve handoffs across sales, estimating, engineering, project management, and field delivery.
- Identify project execution risks, delivery bottlenecks, and sources of margin leakage.
- Lead, develop, and create accountability across sales, project, technical, and delivery teams.
- Engage directly with customers on strategic opportunities and complex engagements.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with security technology vendors and OEM partners.
- Partner cross-functionally with sales, engineering, finance, operations, procurement, and executive leadership.
- Help integrate physical security more deeply into the organization's broader technology and services offering.
Ideal Candidate:
We are seeking a leader who has successfully operated at the intersection of physical security, technology integration, sales, and project/service delivery within one of the below capacities.
- Physical security systems integrator
- IT VAR with a physical security or special systems practice
- Access control/video surveillance integrator
- Smart building or low-voltage technology provider
- Regional or national technology/security integrator
- Technology-enabled field services organization with meaningful project-delivery complexity
Must-Have Experience:
- Meaningful experience in physical security or special systems, including areas such as access control, video surveillance, low voltage, smart buildings, or related integration work.
- Demonstrated responsibility for both sales/commercial growth and delivery execution. Sales-only candidates will not be a fit.
- Leadership of a meaningful business unit, practice, region, or business line, ideally with P&L or comparable operating accountability.
- Experience identifying and resolving delivery problems while protecting customer relationships and profitability.
- Strong customer-facing executive presence.
- Comfort operating within a technology services, VAR, reseller, or systems integration culture rather than a purely construction-oriented environment.
Highly Preferred:
Experience leading a $20M–$100M business unit, region, or practice is particularly attractive, as is experience improving project/services margins, building management cadence, operating across multiple regions, and supporting SLED, healthcare, commercial, or enterprise customers. Familiarity with platforms such as Verkada, Genetec, Axis, LenelS2, Avigilon, and Cisco Meraki is also beneficial.
