International Tax Manager

Your Passion. Your Purpose. If you’re here, you’re looking for more—more impact for clients navigating a complex global tax landscape, more opportunity to shape how growing businesses expand across borders. At Rehmann, you’ll help companies look to the future with confidence by delivering international tax solutions that protect value, reduce risk, and free leaders to focus on what makes them extraordinary. This role matters because our clients’ cross-border decisions succeed or stall on the quality of the advice they receive—and you’ll own that outcome.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Lead international tax planning and compliance for assigned clients so filings (Forms 5471, 8865, 8858, 1118, 5472, and related) are accurate, on time, and positioned to capture available credits and treaty benefits.
  • Identify and quantify tax-saving opportunities (FTC optimization, GILTI/FDII, Subpart F, transfer pricing alignment) and present recommendations that clients act on within the engagement cycle.
  • Resolve notices, examinations, and treaty/competent authority issues with taxing authorities, closing matters with documented, defensible positions.
  • Build and maintain client relationships as a trusted advisor, expanding scope by introducing complementary Rehmann specialists when international work reveals broader needs.
  • Mentor staff and seniors on international technical work so review notes decline and team members independently complete moderate-complexity returns and memos.
  • Document positions, processes, and client facts so knowledge is transferable and engagements remain consistent across the team.

Environment & Resources

You’ll report to a Tax Principal or Partner within our specialized consulting practice and collaborate with assurance, CAS, and wealth teams serving privately held and mid-market clients. You’ll have access to research platforms, tax software, and internal specialists; flexible work arrangements; and a culture that Puts People First. Work is client-driven with seasonal peaks; travel is limited and primarily regional.

Essential Qualifications

  • CPA (or equivalent) and 5+ years of international tax experience in public accounting or industry, including U.S. outbound/inbound compliance and planning.
  • Demonstrated ability to complete and review Forms 5471/8865/1118 and related international information returns with minimal rework.
  • Working knowledge of GILTI, FDII, FTC, treaties, and transfer pricing concepts sufficient to advise clients and train others.
  • Clear written and verbal communication—able to explain technical positions to owners and non-tax executives.
  • Track record of managing multiple deadlines while maintaining quality and client confidence.

Why Rehmann

  • Empower Your Purpose: career paths, mentoring, and leadership that help you grow without leaving client work behind.
  • People-first benefits: physical and mental health support, volunteer PTO, and flexible arrangements aligned to real life.
  • 80+ years of integrity serving clients nationwide from Michigan, Ohio, and Florida—with entrepreneurial spirit and unwavering ethics.
  • Work that connects tax technical excellence to real business outcomes, not just compliance volume.
