We are currently in search of a Human Resources Coordinator for Community Access, a Housing and Social Services nonprofit, located in New York City (Lower Manhattan). This is a Full-Time, In-Office/Hybrid, Direct-Hire position. Of note, after an introductory period of 30 days, the schedule will be 3 days in-office,2 days remote.

The Human Resources Coordinator will be responsible for providing junior-level generalist support to the HR department in the areas of Compliance, Recruitment, Payroll, and Benefits Administration. The primary responsibility is offering administrative support to ensure the effective processing of essential tasks within a comprehensive HR department. The full-cycle services include: recruitment; new hire orientation and onboarding; benefits and leave administration; payroll, HR information management, and reporting; employee relations and compliance; and performance management. A successful outcome for this position is to successfully partner and support the entire HR team and employees of the greater organization.
Our Ideal Candidate:
- Minimum two to three years of experience in a Human Resources department required, or related degree/certification, preferred
- Have an understanding, appreciation, and commitment to the philosophy and mission of Community Access
- Experience supporting multiple HR functions, including onboarding, payroll, benefits administration, leave administration, and employee records, preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Be creative and flexible
- Experience working in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment
- Intermediate level computer skills. Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite preferred
- Show initiative and be responsible for follow-through
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to maintain confidential information, as related to position

How You Will Spend Your Day:
- Provide administrative support to the Chief People Officer and Director of HR, including correspondence, team minutes, project management, and schedule management for individual and team needs
- Ensure that all employment-related changes are processed accurately throughout the various employee-related systems, including all related employee benefits
- Serve as point person for responding to and tracking the Leave of Absence program, under the leadership of Director of HR or HR Generalist
- Respond to routine employee requests related to leave of absence requests, timesheet and payroll inquiries, employment verifications, open enrollment, the Employee Handbook, and employment-related policies
- Assist with the new employee orientation process, including hosting, document review, HRIS training, set-up, ordering, and related tasks
- Monitor HR team email, ask HR, and assist the Director of HR in assigning follow-ups
- Perform invoice reconciliation for all HR department-related purchases or costs
- Serve as point person to ensure successful off-boarding process, including processing of terminations, paperwork generation, scheduling exit interviews, communicating with internal departments as needed
- Respond to routine audit/employee verification requests and assist relevant HR Team members on payroll and 403b audits
- Perform support tasks related to the onboarding process from background checks through Orientation
- Assist HR Generalists with payroll processing, including but not limited to data entry and record maintenance for timesheet corrections, LOA input, etc.
- Assist with the preparation and maintenance of the performance review process, including tracking and reporting of deadlines, sending out appropriate documentation, etc.
- Primary responsibility for establishing and maintaining new hire personnel folders and all relevant employment-related documentation
- Research, prepare, and maintain required mailings, including Legal updates for programs, status change documentation to employees, etc.
- Copy, maintain, and disseminate adequate supplies of human resources documents, including recruitment packets, orientation documents, etc.
- Serve as point person for HR archiving process and records
- Assist with special projects for Chief People Officer and Director of Human Resources, as assigned
- Participate in other areas of HR: Staff Activities and Recognition, Performance Management, Compensation Management, Training, etc.
- Attend and participate in supervision, meetings, and training sessions, as required
- Perform other duties as assigned
