We are currently in search of a Development Operations Assistant for Health Advocates for Older People, a nonprofit organization supporting safe and healthy living for older adults in New York City. This is a temporary, part-time position supporting the organization’s gala and end-of-year fundraising efforts.


ORGANIZATION TYPE: Aging Services Nonprofit

LOCATION: Midtown Manhattan

POSITION TITLE: Development Operations Assistant

SCHEDULE: 14–15 hours/week, Monday–Wednesday or Monday–Thursday, within 9:00am–5:00pm. Must be able to work in the office two days per week initially, with potential to transition to a hybrid schedule.

DURATION: Immediate start through December 31, 2026

HOURLY RATE: $26–$30/hour

This role is a great opportunity for an experienced development professional who enjoys the detail-oriented side of fundraising. You will support year-end fundraising, donor communications, CRM management, and event preparation while working closely with senior staff. Strong judgment is especially important when processing gifts and preparing donor acknowledgement letters. The role will also support a special event on October 22, including the possibility of working later that evening, potentially until 10:00pm.


Our Ideal Candidate:

  • 3+ years of development or fundraising experience
  • Experience with MailMerge is required
  • Experience working with CRM databases
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and professional judgment
  • Comfortable processing donor information and preparing acknowledgement letters
  • Adaptable and comfortable learning new technology and systems
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Comfortable working independently and handling confidential donor information
  • Availability to work until 10 pm on October 22.


How You Will Spend Your Day:

  • Process donations, including checks and online gifts
  • Enter and maintain accurate donor and gift information in the CRM
  • Prepare donor acknowledgement letters for review and signature
  • Pull donor lists, queries, and fundraising reports
  • Maintain and clean donor database information
  • Respond to basic donor inquiries and correspondence
  • Assist with event and year-end fundraising logistics
  • Support bank deposits and other development-related administrative tasks
  • Assist with Executive Director and Board support as needed
  • Provide additional support for the October 22 special event, including potential evening hours
  • Assist with other development and operations projects as needed
