We are currently in search of a Temporary HR Manager for a Justice Services Nonprofit Organization. The position is in-person in Queens, NY. This is a Full-time, temporary position.

 

ORGANIZATION TYPE: Justice Services Nonprofit 

LOCATION: New York, NY (Queens) 

POSITION TITLE: HR Manager

SCHEDULE: Full-time, 32 hours/week, In Person, Monday - Friday 9 to 5

DURATION: Temporary (3 Months) 

HOURLY RATE: $30.00 - $34.00

The Temporary Operations Coordinator provides administrative and operational support to the Finance & Administration Division, helping ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of the organization. This role supports a variety of functions, including office operations, Board Affairs, meetings and events, travel coordination, vendor management, and general administrative services.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, professional, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. 


 

Our Ideal Candidate: 

  • 5–8 years of professional Human Resources experience preferred.
  • Candidates with fewer years of experience may be considered with a Master’s degree.
  • SHRM certification may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Hands-on experience with recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, and offboarding.
  • Strong understanding of HRIS systems and HR platforms; experience with Paychex is preferred.
  • Experience managing and coordinating employee onboarding from offer through orientation and initial employment.
  • Strong follow-up skills and ability to manage multiple HR processes and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle confidential employee information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Nonprofit experience is a plus.


 

How You Will Spend Your Day: 

  • Manage and support day-to-day HR operations, serving as a resource to employees and managers.
  • Lead and coordinate employee onboarding, including new hire paperwork, HRIS updates, orientation, and ensuring new employees have a smooth transition into the organization.
  • Support employee offboarding, including coordinating required documentation, system updates, and exit processes.
  • Manage recruitment activities, including posting positions, reviewing candidates, coordinating interviews, following up with candidates and hiring managers, and supporting the hiring process.
  • Proactively follow up with employees, managers, and candidates to ensure HR processes and deadlines stay on track.
  • Support employee relations by addressing employee questions and concerns and escalating sensitive matters when appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records and HR documentation.
  • Utilize HRIS and HR platforms to enter, update, and maintain employee information.
  • Work with Paychex and other HR systems to support employee records, onboarding, and other HR processes.
  • Partner with managers and staff to ensure HR policies and procedures are understood and followed.
  • Assist with HR-related projects, initiatives, and organizational needs as they arise.
  • Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive employee and organizational information.
  • Travel to the organization's Long Island City location in Queens as needed to provide hands-on HR support.
  • Take initiative in identifying HR needs and resolving issues rather than waiting for tasks to be assigned.
  • Provide general HR support in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism, responsiveness, and attention to detail.
