We are currently in search of an IT Specialist for a Museum located in Chicago, IL (Near North Side area). This is a Full-Time (40 hrs./wk.), In-Person, Temporary (~through February 2026) assignment. Of note, there is the potential that this role could become a temporary-to-permanent role.

 

ORGANIZATION TYPE: Museum

LOCATION: Chicago, IL (Near North Side area)

POSITION TITLE: IT Specialist

SCHEDULE: M-F, 9 AM-5 PM; Full Time (40 hrs./wk.)/In Person

DURATION: Temporary (but could potentially become a temporary-to-permanent opportunity)

PAY RATE: $30-32/hr. DOE

 

Is This Your Dream Job? The Information Technology Specialist responds, troubleshoots, and resolves Helpdesk requests made by museum staff. They also assist with user account setup, basic systems and network administration, and other technical tasks. They will have a strong affinity for learning new things in an evolving, physical-to-virtual technical landscape.


Our Ideal Candidate:


  • 2 to 4 years of experience working in an Information Technology support role
  • Bachelor’s degree desired or equivalent work experience
  • Experience deploying and administering Windows and MacOS computers
  • Experience working in a Microsoft Active Directory environment
  • Working knowledge of LAN, WLAN, WAN, DNS, DHCP, and LDAP
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Ability to lift and move computer equipment
  • General mobility throughout all museum properties


How You Will Spend Your Day:


  • Triage, prioritize, and resolve internal support inquiries from the museum staff
  • Assist People and Culture with onboarding and offboarding of employees
  • Install, upgrade, and configure computer hardware and software
  • Author technical documentation to aid in the education of museum employees
  • Maintain a functioning printing and copying environment
  • Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction when performing duties
  • Work closely with the IT Database Administrator and Director of IT to ensure institutional technical SLAs and needs are being met
  • Maintain and troubleshoot the museum’s Cisco Unified VoIP phone solution
  • Other duties as required and assigned by the Director of Information Technology
