We are currently in search of a Grant Writer for a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving educational outcomes for students from disadvantaged backgrounds. This is a temporary, part-time, position available on a fully remote schedule.


ORGANIZATION TYPE: Education and Social Services

LOCATION: Remote (based in NY)

POSITION TITLE: Temporary Grant Writer

SCHEDULE: 25-30 hours in October. Hours vary month to month. Flexible schedule

DURATION: Temporary (Early October Start. Anticipated end date June 2026)

PAY RANGE: $42 - $45/hour

The Temporary Grant Writer will play a key role in supporting the Development team by crafting persuasive grant proposals, preparing funder reports, and ensuring timely submission of materials to support the organization’s fundraising goals. This role requires both strong storytelling and quantitative reporting skills, as well as experience in institutional fundraising. The ideal candidate is a skilled writer, highly organized, and motivated to contribute to mission-driven work.


Our Ideal Candidate:

  • Several years of experience in grant writing and reporting for nonprofits
  • Demonstrated success in writing proposals and reports to institutional funders for 6 figure gifts and multi-year agreements
  • Previous experience serving as Institutional Giving Manager/ foundations role. 
  • Fluency in Salesforce a plus
  • Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously


How You Will Spend Your Day:

  • Craft compelling grant proposals and applications that effectively communicate the organization’s mission, programs, and impact
  • Prepare three renewal reports for current funders, working closely with the Chief Development Officer to finalize submissions
  • Create standardized templates for proposals and reporting to improve efficiency and consistency
  • Curate and maintain a repository of approved language and program-related materials for future use
  • Maintain a library of standard supplemental materials for grant submissions
  • Facilitate data requests needed for proposals and reports in collaboration with program staff
  • Establish review processes and timelines to ensure quality and timely submissions
  • Manage a grants calendar to track all deadlines for proposals, interim reports, and final reports
  • Perform other duties as directed by the Chief Development Officer
