We are currently in search of a Database Assistant for an Higher Education Institution. The position is Temp in New York, NY (South of Midtown Manhattan).  

 

ORGANIZATION TYPE: Higher Education Institution 

LOCATION: New York, NY (Midtown Manhattan) 

POSITION TITLE: Database Assistant 

SCHEDULE: Full-time, 35 hours/week, In-person, Work hours generally fall between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM, with flexibility to start earlier or later as needed To accommodate the Friday off schedule, employees work an additional 1.5 hours per day during non-holiday weeks 

DURATION: Temporary, For the month of June 

HOURLY RATE: $24.00 - $27.00

The Database Assistant reports to the Database Administrator and is responsible for maintaining alumni records in Raiser’s Edge, processing data updates, managing returned mail information, and supporting the daily operations of the Advancement team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with databases, spreadsheets, and administrative processes while contributing to the success of a higher education institution. 

 

Our Ideal Candidate: 

  • Proficiency in MS Office: MS Excel is required, MS Access is a plus 
  • Proficient computer skills, experience with email applications 
  • Proficient with scanning and manipulating documents in PDF format 
  • Familiarity with LinkedIn and social media 
  • Experience updating information in Raiser’s Edge database view (Blackbaud) 
  • Prior experience in higher education and /or non-profit environment is a plus 

 

How You Will Spend Your Day: 

  • Maintain accurate records in our alumni database – Raiser’s Edge 
  • Update and change contact information on daily basis  
  • Process all data entry from returned mail, submission forms and NCOA 
  • Cross-check information from external lists to keep alumni database up to date 
  • Create new records when needed 
  • Prepare and manipulate excel, csv and text data files  
  • Pick up the mail from the PO box at a local post office 
  • Take checks and documents to other offices on-site (located in 3 different buildings) 
  • Perform general office duties as assigned
