We are currently in search of a Senior Director of Philanthropy, Campaign and Major Gifts for the Computer History Museum (CHM). The position is Hybrid in Mountain View, CA. This is a Full-Time, Permanent position.

 

ORGANIZATION TYPE: Nonprofit Museum

LOCATION: Mountain View, CA (Hybrid: 20-40% onsite)

POSITION TITLE: Senior Director of Philanthropy, Campaign and Major Gifts

SCHEDULE: Full-Time

DURATION: Permanent – Direct Hire

ANNUAL SALARY: $160K-$190K

The Senior Director will play a critical leadership role in advancing this mission through transformational philanthropy. Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, this individual will lead major and planned gift strategies, oversee a portfolio of high-capacity donors, and provide strategic leadership for comprehensive and capital campaigns. This role also supervises a major gifts team and partners closely with executive leadership, trustees, and cross-functional colleagues to drive campaign success and donor engagement.

 

Our Ideal Candidate:

·       5+ years of experience leading large-scale (9 figure), multi-year fundraising campaigns required

·       Proven success securing and stewarding prospects with capacity for $1M+ gifts

·       Understanding of the Silicon Valley philanthropic landscape; well-connected in that landscape is ideal

·       Experience managing portfolios of high-capacity donors and prospects

·       Demonstrated ability to develop sophisticated donor cultivation and solicitation strategies

·       Prior experience supervising and mentoring fundraising staff

·       Excellent written and verbal communication skills

·       Highly organized with strong attention to detail and project management skills

·       Knowledge of planned giving strategies and donor stewardship best practices

·       Comfortable working in a collaborative, fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment

·       Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree and/or CFRE preferred

·       Genuine interest in technology, innovation, and the future impact of computing

 

How You Will Spend Your Day:

·      Manage and grow a personal portfolio of approximately 100 donor prospects with the capacity to give $1M or more

·      Develop and execute donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies for major, annual, and planned gifts

·      Partner closely with the Chief Development Officer on all aspects of the development program and provide leadership in her absence

·      Lead strategic planning and implementation for comprehensive and/or capital campaigns

·      Create campaign structures, giving opportunities, donor materials, reports, and dashboards for leadership and trustees

·      Supervise, coach, and support members of the major gifts team

·      Collaborate across departments to ensure alignment on donor engagement and stewardship activities

·      Develop and maintain systems for tracking campaign progress, donor prospects, and trustee engagement

·      Participate in fundraising and cultivation events to strengthen donor relationships and expand networks

·      Serve as a compelling ambassador for the Museum’s mission, exhibitions, and long-range vision
