Senior Warehouse Manager
Frozen product only earns trust if it leaves the dock at the right temperature, on the right truck, and on time. This role owns that standard across a multi-site direct-store-delivery operation serving Southern California retailers with frozen foods. You will turn daily receiving, storage, and load-out into a reliable promise for drivers, customers, and the households who buy these brands.
Performance Objectives
- Hold outbound accuracy at 99.5% or better and release loads on time so routes leave full, correct, and inside the published window.
- Protect product integrity: eliminate avoidable temperature excursions and hold shrink inside target through rotation, cycle counts, and cold-chain controls.
- Raise labor productivity year over year without treating overtime as the default fix.
- Reduce recordable incidents and near-misses by running daily safety observations, equipment standards, and a real stop-work culture.
- Keep inventory variance within agreed tolerance through weekly counts, same-week root-cause closes, and clean receiving-to-putaway.
- Staff, train, and retain a shift team that can carry peak summer volume without service misses.
- Coordinate with transportation so trailer use, returns, and credits do not stall the dock.
Environment & Resources
You lead warehouse supervisors and hourly associates across distribution centers that support a regional DSD fleet. You report to operations leadership, with authority over schedules, slotting, and operating procedures. You will use the warehouse and route systems already in place, plus a defined budget for racking, material-handling equipment, and cold-storage upkeep.
Essential Qualifications
- Proven leadership of a frozen or temperature-controlled warehouse, with results you can cite in accuracy, shrink, or on-time shipping.
- Hands-on command of FIFO, cycle counting, and cold-chain records that hold up to customer and regulatory review.
- Experience building schedules and standards for a multi-shift team through seasonal volume spikes.
- A safety record you can explain: observations, incident reduction, and equipment accountability.
- Comfort coordinating with drivers and dispatch in a direct-store-delivery model.
- Ability to read labor, inventory, and service numbers and act the same day.
Why This Role
- You own the warehouse standard for a service-first DSD network, not a back-office support seat.
- The product is visible and unforgiving: frozen foods that lose value the moment the cold chain slips.
- The culture is long-running and family-style, measured by service and safety rather than slogans.
- You will shape how multiple distribution centers run as volume grows with major brand partnerships.
- Safety is a daily operating habit here, not an annual training event.
