How You'll Contribute to Our Partner's Success

As a Produce Accounting Manager with 5+ years of experience in the fresh produce industry, you will play a critical role in maintaining accurate financial records, managing inventory cost, and supporting regulatory compliance across a fast-paced perishable goods environment. In this hybrid role, you’ll oversee produce-related accounting functions and collaborate closely with sales, logistics, and operations teams. Your deep understanding of cost accounting, produce inventory, and compliance with PACA and food safety regulations will help drive operational accuracy and financial transparency.

This role is ideal for someone with deep knowledge of produce liquidation, PACA law, and international produce regulations, particularly between Mexico and the U.S. Your efforts will help protect the company’s financial interests and ensure best-in-class compliance practices as the business continues to scale.

  • Maintain clean financial records, monitor produce inventory and COGS, and ensure compliance with produce-specific accounting regulations
  • Experience with liquidation practices, especially produce brokerage and consignment sales
  • Strong knowledge of PACA regulations, especially understanding rejections and protecting company assets
  • Familiarity with Mexico-U.S. cross-border regulations
  • Perform daily journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close processes related to produce sales, purchases, and freight
  • Monitor and reconcile inventory by item, lot, and location, while tracking spoilage, write-offs, and cold storage costs
  • Process vendor invoices and manage customer receivables, chargebacks, deductions, and credits
  • Perform investigations into discrepancies or claims in coordination with the sales team, and protect the company in line with PACA and contract law
  • Lead 3PL invoice auditing and vendor billing validation
  • Use ProducePlan (a hybrid system combining Famous and ProducePro) for produce operations
  • Work cross-functionally with sales, logistics, and warehouse teams to ensure accuracy of transaction data
  • Support audits and maintain compliance with PACA, FSVP, and food safety documentation requirements
