A long-standing and well-established construction firm in the Central Valley is seeking a proactive and experienced Safety Manager to lead and strengthen its safety program across multiple projects. The Safety Manager will play a critical role in maintaining a safe work environment, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, and embedding a culture of safety throughout the organization.
Position Overview
The Safety Manager will oversee all safety initiatives, procedures, and compliance measures across active construction job sites. This individual will conduct regular site inspections, manage safety training, oversee incident investigations, and ensure that all projects adhere to OSHA/Cal-OSHA requirements. The right candidate will be hands-on, solution-oriented, and confident working with field teams, subcontractors, and leadership to uphold a safe and compliant working environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and manage the organization’s safety programs, policies, and procedures.
- Conduct routine jobsite inspections, audits, and hazard assessments to ensure adherence to OSHA/Cal-OSHA and internal standards.
- Respond to incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and drive corrective action plans.
- Lead safety orientations, toolbox talks, and ongoing safety-related training for field personnel.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, superintendents, and field teams to reinforce a safety-first culture.
- Maintain safety documentation, regulatory reports, and compliance logs.
- Review subcontractor safety plans for alignment with company expectations.
- Oversee PPE requirements, equipment inspections, and hazard mitigation processes.
- Track safety performance metrics, analyze trends, and prepare reports for leadership.
- Ensure emergency preparedness, including evacuation planning and first-aid readiness.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in construction safety management or a closely related field.
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA and Cal/OSHA regulations and construction safety practices.
- Experience conducting site audits, hazard evaluations, safety meetings, and formal trainings.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and engage field and management teams.
- Strong documentation and reporting abilities.
- Preferred certifications (not required):
- OSHA 30
- CHST, STSC, or related credential
- Valid driver’s license and ability to visit multiple job sites in the region.
