About the Role

As the Project Accountant, you will play a key role in ensuring the financial integrity of engineering projects from start to finish. You’ll work closely with project managers, engineers, and senior leadership to monitor budgets, manage billing cycles, and track costs across multiple active projects. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, at least 3 years of experience in project accounting (preferably within engineering, construction, or architecture), and a solid understanding of GAAP and job cost accounting principles. Proficiency in Excel and experience with project management or accounting software (such as Deltek, Viewpoint, or QuickBooks) is essential. We’re looking for someone who is detail-oriented, collaborative, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.


Responsibilities:

  • Track and manage budgets for multiple ongoing engineering projects
  • Work directly with project managers to review job costing, forecast expenses, and identify variances
  • Prepare and process client billing and ensure timely collections
  • Monitor contract compliance and maintain accurate project financial records
  • Manage month-end close related to project accounting, including journal entries and reconciliations
  • Assist with audit preparation and reporting for both internal and external stakeholders
  • Support financial planning and analysis for upcoming and existing projects
  • Coordinate with the accounting team on company-wide financial reporting
  • Assist in the development of process improvements for tracking project financial performance
