A pretigious law firm is seeking a family attorney with 3+ years of experience who can assist clients in navigating the sensitive legal issues of family law, including child custody, child abuse, and domestic violence; should be equally familiar with prenuptial agreements, divorce, alimony, child support, and real estate, and be able to effectively engage in oral debate and negotiation even in highly stressful and emotional situations.

Qualifications

1. Juris Doctor from an accredited U.S. law school.
2. Active member of the Florida Bar in good standing.
3. ABA membership and Spanish proficiency are strong pluses.
4. Minimum 4 years of family law litigation experience, including contested and uncontested matters.
5. Demonstrated success advocating in trials, mediations, and evidentiary hearings.
6. Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with composure in highly emotional, high-stress situations.
7. Proven ability to manage a heavy caseload with minimal supervision while meeting deadlines.
8. Working knowledge of real-estate issues that intersect with family law (e.g., title, homestead, QDROs, equity distribution).
9. Strong legal research and writing skills with meticulous attention to detail and file hygiene.
10. Familiarity with Florida Family Law Rules of Procedure, local rules, and e-filing/e-service protocols.

Responsibilities

1. Advocate on behalf of clients by understanding their needs, effectively analyzing the situation and forming a strategy for a plan of action
2. Work closely with paralegals and senior partners to ensure swift action through the civil litigation process
3. Organize and maintain client files to ensure they are kept current
4. Ensure clients are effectively represented at court hearings as neededHandle the division of marital assets, including real estate, during divorce proceedings as neededWork in a hybrid model based out of the Miami office, with periodic in-person days and travel as needed.
5. Represent clients in divorce proceedings, including high-conflict matters—handling motion practice, discovery, mediation, and evidentiary hearings.
6. Conduct comprehensive client assessments; analyze facts and law; and design, execute, and continuously refine litigation and settlement strategies aligned to client objectives.
7. Advocate effectively at hearings, mediations, and conferences, delivering clear oral arguments and principled negotiation to drive durable resolutions.
8. Draft and perfect pleadings, motions, marital settlement agreements, judgments, proposed orders, and related contracts across a high-volume docket.
9. Collaborate closely with paralegals, partners, and outside professionals to ensure timely matter progression and high-quality work product.
10. Manage the equitable distribution of marital assets—including real property, business interests, and retirement accounts—retaining financial and valuation experts as appropriate.
11. Maintain meticulous file management and deadline control, ensuring strict compliance with the Florida Family Law Rules of Procedure, local rules, and e-filing/e-service protocols.
12. Provide precise legal counsel and draft marital property, prenuptial, and postnuptial agreements that reflect client goals and Florida law.
13. Perform targeted legal research and develop work plans that anticipate risks, evidentiary needs, and settlement opportunities.
14. Communicate proactively and professionally with clients, opposing counsel, experts, and court personnel to keep cases moving and expectations clear.
