Registered Nurse (RN) – Emergency Department (ED)

Compensation: $32 to $51 per hour depending on years of experience


Position Overview

The Emergency Department RN delivers compassionate, high-quality care to patients in a fast-paced, dynamic ED environment. Using the nursing process, you will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care for patients of all ages presenting with urgent or life-threatening conditions. This role requires critical thinking, adaptability, and collaboration with the entire ED team to ensure rapid response and optimal outcomes.


Responsibilities

  • Perform rapid patient assessments, triage, and initiate emergency interventions
  • Administer medications, IV fluids, and treatments safely and efficiently
  • Monitor and respond to changes in patient condition with timely interventions
  • Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and other team members to stabilize and treat patients
  • Provide education and emotional support to patients and families during crisis situations
  • Maintain organized and well-supplied patient rooms and ED work areas
  • Participate in unit-based quality initiatives and continuous improvement efforts
  • Assist in training and orienting new staff and nursing students as needed


Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Nursing (BSN preferred)
  • Current RN license in Wisconsin (or eligibility for licensure)
  • BLS certification (required, or able to obtain within 90 days)
  • ACLS and PALS certification strongly preferred
  • 1+ year of prior ED, ICU, or critical care experience preferred (new grads with strong interest in emergency nursing may be considered)
  • Strong ability to stay calm, focused, and effective in high-pressure situations


Skills & Abilities

  • Rapid triage and decision-making skills
  • Strong clinical knowledge across multiple specialties (trauma, cardiac, respiratory, neuro, etc.)
  • Proficiency in emergency equipment and procedures (airway management, defibrillation, code response)
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and leadership abilities
