Position Summary

The CT Technologist performs computed tomography procedures at a professional level without the need for constant supervision. This role involves preparing and positioning patients, operating imaging equipment, and ensuring high-quality diagnostic images are produced in accordance with departmental protocols and safety standards.

Essential Functions

  • Perform CT scans independently, ensuring technical quality and compliance with established protocols.
  • Obtain and document patient history, explain procedures, and address patient questions or concerns.
  • Produce high-quality diagnostic images using computerized tomographic scanners.
  • Operate and maintain imaging equipment safely while adhering to procedural and safety standards.
  • Apply ionizing radiation in a controlled, professional manner to assist in the diagnosis of medical conditions.
  • Regulate imaging equipment and ensure proper documentation and storage of images in PACS systems.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication and professional relationships with colleagues, other departments, and facility personnel.
  • Utilize sound judgment and experience to manage workflow and accomplish departmental goals.
  • Work under general supervision and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Current certification and registration as a Radiologic Technologist and CT Technologist.
  • Certification must be recognized by the appropriate state licensing board.
  • Active registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiography and Computed Tomography.
  • Valid hands-on CPR certification required.

Physical Demands

  • May require lifting and carrying items up to 40 pounds.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting, as well as frequent standing and walking, are expected.
