OR Tech (Tier 2) – Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)

Location: Kansas City, MO

Schedule: Full-time | Three 12-hour shifts per week (rotating weekends)

Shifts Available: Mixed Schedule or Nights

On-Call Requirement: Must reside within 30 minutes of the facility

Position Overview

The OR Tech (Tier 2) is a highly skilled Certified Surgical Technologist who plays a critical role in supporting safe, efficient, and high-quality surgical care. This position reflects advanced technical proficiency across multiple surgical specialties and requires the ability to function independently as a first scrub. While not a formal leadership role, Tier 2 OR Techs serve as experienced contributors within a high-acuity operating room environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain operating rooms with appropriate instruments, supplies, and equipment
  • Assist with patient positioning, prepping, and draping to ensure safety and comfort
  • Scrub in and assist surgeons by anticipating needs and providing instruments efficiently
  • Maintain sterile technique and ensure accurate sponge, needle, and instrument counts
  • Handle specimens according to protocol and assist with documentation as needed
  • Participate in efficient room turnover and readiness for subsequent procedures
  • Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, nurses, and support staff
  • Promote patient safety, quality outcomes, and adherence to established standards

Qualifications

  • Minimum of one (1) year of operating room experience required
  • Demonstrated competency as first scrub in at least three (3) of the following specialties:
  • Robotic Surgery
  • Total Joint Surgery
  • Neuro/Spine Surgery
  • Vascular Surgery
  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program
  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) through NBSTSA preferred
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
