Salary Range: $95,373.00 - $143,059.00



Position Summary


In collaboration with departmental leadership, the Manager supports the supervision and coordination of Respiratory Therapy staff across all shifts, helping to promote and maintain high standards of clinical practice. This role also provides support to medical leadership as needed. In the absence of the department’s primary leader, the Manager oversees daily operations of the Respiratory Therapy department.


Essential Functions and Responsibilities Include:


  • Adhere to organizational performance standards, policies, and professional behaviors.
  • Remain knowledgeable of state and federal regulations, as well as requirements from regulatory and accrediting bodies relevant to respiratory care.
  • Serve as a professional role model for staff.
  • Participate in developing and implementing patient- and family-centered, evidence-based care models that promote professional practice and cost-effective outcomes.
  • Manage employee performance in alignment with standards of practice, departmental policies, and organizational guidelines.
  • Communicate with staff in a consistent, fair, and timely manner.
  • Conduct formal performance reviews that are objective, timely, and accurately documented.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development using available learning resources.
  • Support staff development by identifying strengths and growth opportunities, setting goals, and providing both formal and informal learning opportunities, coaching, and feedback.
  • Maintain visibility and credibility among the respiratory care team and collaborative care partners.
  • Participate in the development, evaluation, and revision of protocols, policies, procedures, and clinical practice standards.
  • Assist in developing, reviewing, and updating clinical and technical competencies for the department.
  • Be available during regulatory inspections, with flexibility in scheduling as needed.
  • Participate in creating quality indicators to measure clinical outcomes.
  • Analyze clinical practices with the interdisciplinary team and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Help facilitate systems that encourage staff involvement in departmental operations.
  • Assist with interviewing candidates and making hiring recommendations.
  • Act as a clinical resource and role model for staff and other departments.
  • Collaborate with leaders to provide learning opportunities for students and staff.
  • Oversee education and orientation processes for Respiratory Therapy employees in partnership with departmental educators.
  • Manage employee time and attendance using the designated timekeeping system.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


Education & Experience Requirements


  • Must be a graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program approved program for Respiratory Therapy
  • Master’s degree strongly preferred.
  • Current, valid Respiratory Therapy license required.
  • Must hold Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential.
  • BLS certification required.
  • ACLS, NRP, and PALS certifications required or obtained within three months of hire.
  • Neonatal Pediatric Specialty (NPS) credential preferred.
  • CPFT credential preferred.
  • Demonstrates a basic knowledge of management skills - Previous management/leadership experience preferred
  • Minimum of five years of recent acute care respiratory therapy experience.
  • Member of the American Association of Respiratory Care
