Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technologist
Compensation: $31 to $45 depending on years of experience
Position Overview
The MRI Technologist is responsible for performing high-quality diagnostic imaging procedures under the direction of a Radiologist. This role involves preparing and positioning patients, operating MRI equipment, administering contrast materials, and ensuring patient comfort and safety throughout the process. The technologist uses sound judgment and technical expertise to capture precise images that assist in accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
Responsibilities
- Explain procedures clearly to patients and provide reassurance throughout the exam
- Position patients correctly to capture optimal images while ensuring comfort and safety
- Operate MRI equipment and software, recognizing and reporting equipment malfunctions as needed
- Administer intravenous/oral contrast safely and in accordance with protocols
- Assist Radiologists with image-guided procedures, maintaining sterile technique and accurate documentation
- Review patient medical history, consent forms, and lab results to ensure safe imaging practices
- Label and document images appropriately, ensuring accuracy and completeness of records
- Provide coverage and support for MRI services as needed, including nights and weekends on rotation
Requirements
- 0–3 years of MRI technologist experience (new grads considered)
- Associate degree or completion of an accredited MRI program (ARRT, ARMRIT, or CAMRT accepted)
- ARRT certification in Radiography and registration in MRI within 1 year of hire OR equivalent MRI-specific certification
- Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy strongly preferred
- Basic computer skills and ability to work with imaging software
- Current BLS/CPR certification (or ability to obtain within 6 weeks of hire)
