Physical Therapist Assistant

About the Role


We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to provide in-home outpatient therapy services alongside licensed Physical Therapists. This role offers the opportunity to deliver high-quality, one-on-one patient care in a home setting—while enjoying flexibility, autonomy, and a manageable documentation workload.


As a PTA, you will implement individualized treatment plans, guide patients through therapeutic exercises, and play a key role in helping adults restore mobility, reduce pain, and improve functional independence.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Care & Treatment Implementation

  • Carry out treatment plans developed by the supervising Physical Therapist
  • Provide hands-on assistance during therapeutic exercises and functional activities
  • Assist patients with mobility training, transfers, gait training, and balance interventions

Therapeutic Interventions

  • Administer therapeutic modalities under PT supervision
  • Guide patients through strengthening, flexibility, endurance, and neuromuscular exercises

Documentation & Communication

  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation of patient progress and interventions
  • Communicate patient responses and status changes to the supervising PT

Patient Education

  • Instruct patients in prescribed exercises with proper technique
  • Reinforce home exercise programs and self-management strategies

Collaboration & Professional Practice

  • Collaborate with Physical Therapists and other healthcare professionals
  • Participate in care discussions and team meetings
  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of therapeutic equipment
  • Follow all safety, infection control, and regulatory standards

Clinical Focus

  • Orthopedic rehabilitation
  • Neurologic conditions
  • Balance and fall prevention
  • Chronic pain management
  • Geriatric rehabilitation


Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
  • Active Massachusetts PTA license in good standing
  • CPR certification
  • Minimum 2 years of experience preferred (geriatric experience strongly preferred)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Commitment to high-quality, patient-centered care
  • Home-based adult care experience is strongly preferred.


Working Environment

  • Primarily mobile, community-based in-home outpatient services
  • Requires occasional lifting and patient mobility assistance
