Job Summary

Our growing, locally owned and managed, not-for-profit health system is looking for a Certified Surgical Technologist to support safe, efficient surgical procedures by maintaining a sterile operating room environment and assisting the surgical team throughout all phases of care. This role works under the supervision of a surgeon to ensure proper setup, instrumentation, patient positioning, and adherence to sterile technique in an acute care hospital setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain professionalism and positive customer relations with patients, visitors, physicians, and coworkers
• Prepare operating rooms, supplies, instruments, and equipment for procedures
• Ensure availability and readiness of sterile instruments, sutures, and equipment
• Assist with patient positioning, skin preparation, and draping
• Establish and maintain the sterile field throughout procedures
• Perform initial and ongoing instrument, sponge, and sharps counts with circulator
• Participate in patient and surgical site verification (time-out)
• Anticipate surgeon needs and pass instruments and supplies during procedures
• Prepare and properly handle surgical specimens
• Assist with lifting, turning, and positioning patients using proper body mechanics
• Clean and prepare instruments for terminal sterilization
• Assist with terminal cleaning of the operating room
• Follow standard precautions and use appropriate PPE at all times
• Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Must be flexible, punctual, and willing to learn in the surgical environment
• New graduates welcome to apply

Licenses & Certifications

• Certified by the NBSTSA required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required
