Position Summary
The Manager of Nursing Services – Labor & Delivery provides 24/7 leadership and operational oversight for the Labor & Delivery unit, ensuring safe, high-quality, and family-centered care. This role is responsible for clinical excellence, staff development, regulatory compliance, and alignment with organizational goals while fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop nursing staff within the Labor & Delivery unit
- Ensure delivery of evidence-based, patient-centered obstetric care
- Oversee daily operations including staffing, scheduling, and patient flow
- Maintain compliance with Joint Commission, CMS, and state regulatory standards
- Collaborate with physicians, midwives, anesthesia, neonatology, and interdisciplinary teams
- Manage unit performance metrics including quality outcomes, patient satisfaction, and safety indicators
- Support budget management, productivity, and resource utilization
- Drive quality improvement initiatives and patient safety programs
- Participate in recruitment, onboarding, performance evaluations, and staff retention efforts
- Serve as a clinical and operational resource during high-risk deliveries and emergencies
Qualifications
Required:
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) ( Will need to have within 12 mos.)
- Minimum of 2 years of Labor & Delivery nursing experience
- Prior leadership experience (Charge Nurse, Supervisor, or Nurse Manager)
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills
- Proven ability to manage change in a fast-paced clinical setting
- Solid understanding of obstetric quality measures and safety standards
- Ability to collaborate effectively across departments
