Manager, Nursing Services – Labor & Delivery

Full-Time | Days

Position Summary

The Manager of Nursing Services – Labor & Delivery provides 24/7 leadership and operational oversight for the Labor & Delivery unit, ensuring safe, high-quality, and family-centered care. This role is responsible for clinical excellence, staff development, regulatory compliance, and alignment with organizational goals while fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop nursing staff within the Labor & Delivery unit
  • Ensure delivery of evidence-based, patient-centered obstetric care
  • Oversee daily operations including staffing, scheduling, and patient flow
  • Maintain compliance with Joint Commission, CMS, and state regulatory standards
  • Collaborate with physicians, midwives, anesthesia, neonatology, and interdisciplinary teams
  • Manage unit performance metrics including quality outcomes, patient satisfaction, and safety indicators
  • Support budget management, productivity, and resource utilization
  • Drive quality improvement initiatives and patient safety programs
  • Participate in recruitment, onboarding, performance evaluations, and staff retention efforts
  • Serve as a clinical and operational resource during high-risk deliveries and emergencies

Qualifications

Required:

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) ( Will need to have within 12 mos.)
  • Minimum of 2 years of Labor & Delivery nursing experience
  • Prior leadership experience (Charge Nurse, Supervisor, or Nurse Manager)

  • Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills
  • Proven ability to manage change in a fast-paced clinical setting
  • Solid understanding of obstetric quality measures and safety standards
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across departments
