Cath Lab Registered Nurse – Louisville, KY
Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Cath Lab Registered Nurse to join our dynamic cardiac care team in Louisville, KY. In this role, you will provide specialized nursing care for patients undergoing diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures. You’ll work in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment that values teamwork, precision, and excellence in patient care.
Responsibilities
- Assist physicians and team members in all aspects of invasive cardiac and vascular procedures including diagnostic catheterizations, coronary interventions, and electrophysiology cases.
- Monitor and assess patient status before, during, and after procedures, ensuring safe sedation and hemodynamic stability.
- Provide patient education, preparation, and post-procedure follow-up as part of a collaborative care approach.
- Maintain sterile technique and adhere to all safety and infection prevention protocols.
- Utilize critical thinking to respond quickly and appropriately to changes in patient condition and emergent situations.
- Document all aspects of care accurately and efficiently in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Participate in rotating call schedules and be available for emergency procedures as needed.
- Demonstrate strong communication and teamwork within a multidisciplinary environment.
Qualifications
- Active Kentucky RN License (or eligibility).
- 
BLS and ACLS certification required.
- 
2–3 years of ICU or Critical Care experience strongly preferred; Cardiac Stepdown experience may be considered.
- Strong critical thinking and time management skills.
- Exceptional teamwork, communication, and customer service abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to remain calm and organized under pressure.
Work Environment
- 7 total Cath Labs across two facilities.
- 
1:1 patient ratio for optimal safety and attention.
- Patients include adults with cardiac and vascular conditions, heart failure, and transplant workups (rarely under 18 years old).
- Equipment includes Siemens, GE, Abbott, Philips, and Medtronic systems.
- EMR systems utilized: Cerner, McKesson, and Sensing.
- 
Surgical scrubs provided. Jewelry or hairstyles that interfere with the sterile field are not permitted.
