🎨 Ceramist (Artistic or Dental) - Full-Time
Location: Spokane, Washington Compensation: $30.00 - $45.00 per hour DOE Schedule: Full-Time (Typical M-F, specific hours may vary)
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Ceramist to join our team in Spokane, Washington. The Ceramist will be responsible for creating and finishing high-quality ceramic pieces, either for artistic/commercial applications (e.g., pottery, tile, sculpture) or dental prosthetics (e.g., crowns, bridges, veneers), depending on the specific facility's focus. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional manual dexterity, a deep understanding of ceramic materials and firing processes, and a commitment to precision and aesthetic excellence.
Key Responsibilities

Fabrication & Finishing: Create ceramic objects from raw materials (clay, porcelain, zirconia, etc.) using techniques such as hand-building, wheel-throwing, molding, or advanced layering.

Glazing & Coloring: Prepare and apply glazes, stains, and porcelain powders to achieve the desired texture, color, and aesthetic effect, including custom shade matching.

Firing: Operate and maintain kilns, managing precise firing schedules and temperatures to ensure material integrity and quality.

Quality Control: Inspect and refine all work, making necessary adjustments to ensure pieces meet specified standards, fit, function, and artistic or professional requirements.

Material Management: Maintain inventory of materials, tools, and equipment, and keep a clean, organized, and safe workspace.

Collaboration: Work effectively with designers, clients, or dental/technical teams to interpret specifications and deliver products that meet exact requirements and deadlines.

Documentation (Dental Focus): Accurately read and interpret dental prescriptions/work orders and maintain detailed records of fabrication processes.
Qualifications

Experience: 2-5 years of professional experience as a Ceramist, Ceramic Artist, or Dental Ceramist/Technician.

Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. Formal training or certification in Ceramics, Fine Arts, Dental Technology, or a related field is highly preferred.

Exceptional manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.

Strong attention to detail and an artistic eye for aesthetics and form.
- Thorough knowledge of ceramic materials, their properties, and different firing cycles.
- Proficiency with relevant tools and equipment (pottery wheel, kiln, layering brushes, CAD/CAM systems, etc., depending on specialization).
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
