Job Title: Occupational Therapist (Hand Therapy Focus)

Location: Bethesda, MD

Employment Type: Full-Time, Mon-Fri, No weekends

Setting: Outpatient Orthopedics


About the Clinic:

We are a growing outpatient orthopedic practice known for our collaborative and patient-centered approach to care. Our team treats a wide range of musculoskeletal and post-surgical conditions, and we are looking to expand our hand therapy services. We’re seeking a motivated Occupational Therapist who either holds the Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) credential or is willing to work towards certification and eager to develop expertise in upper extremity rehab.


Position Overview:

The Occupational Therapist will primarily evaluate and treat patients with upper extremity injuries and conditions, including post-surgical rehab, repetitive strain injuries, and trauma. The ideal candidate is experienced or passionate about hand therapy and seeks to grow within a supportive, orthopedic-focused team.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate, plan, and implement individualized treatment programs for patients with upper extremity and hand conditions
  • Provide evidence-based therapy, including manual techniques, modalities, custom splinting, and patient education
  • Collaborate with referring physicians, surgeons, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care
  • Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation in accordance with company and regulatory standards
  • Actively participate in clinic meetings, quality improvement efforts, and continuing education
  • Support patients through all stages of rehabilitation, from acute post-op recovery to functional return


Qualifications:

  • Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program
  • Active Maryland Occupational Therapy license (or eligibility to obtain)
  • Experience in outpatient or orthopedic settings preferred
  • Prior hand therapy experience or strong interest in specializing in hand/upper extremity care
  • CHT credential preferred but not required (mentorship toward certification available)
  • Strong communication skills and a commitment to collaborative care
  • Ability to fabricate custom splints (preferred, or willing to train)
