Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Educator
Job Type: Full-Time
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Shift: Day
Salary Range: $125,000 – $190,000 (based on full-time employment)
Position Summary
The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Educator is an exempt position responsible for the education, clinical development, competency assessment, and ongoing professional support of Physician Assistants (PAs) and Nurse Practitioners (NPs) across the organization. This role plays a key part in ensuring that APPs deliver the highest standards of patient care through structured training, mentoring, and competency evaluation.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Educate new and existing PAs and NPs on clinical topics relevant to their specialty areas, including medical and surgical diagnoses, procedures, and department-specific needs.
- Develop, implement, and manage clinical competency programs, including measurement, evaluation, and documentation.
- Partner with the Medical Staff Office to ensure accurate delineation of privileges (DOP) for new and existing APPs.
- Collaborate with Lead APPs to oversee onboarding checklists and orientation processes.
- Provide continuing education opportunities through multiple modalities such as lectures, simulation labs, and online learning platforms.
- Serve as a clinical resource and mentor for ongoing professional development.
- Support onboarding efforts for new APP hires, ensuring smooth integration into clinical teams.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of evidence-based standards of care, policies, and procedures.
- Participate in organizational committees, task forces, and quality improvement initiatives as needed.
- Provide education and guidance on billing, coding, and compliance best practices.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, care management, administration, and other healthcare disciplines to ensure coordinated, high-quality care.
- Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of anatomy, pharmacology, pathophysiology, and clinical medicine.
- Communicate effectively with all healthcare professionals across departments.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education & Experience Requirements
For Physician Assistants:
- Current New York State license as a Physician Assistant
- Current National Certification
For Nurse Practitioners:
- Current New York State license as a Registered Professional Nurse
- Current New York State certification as a Nurse Practitioner
- Current National Certification
Additional Requirements:
- Minimum of five (5) years of clinical experience
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Demonstrated proficiency in approved clinical procedures and techniques
