Are you a Systems Administrator looking for your next contract role?
Our client is preparing for a critical Data Centre migration between January and March 2026 (completion deadline: March 31st). They are seeking a part-time Systems Administrator (25–40 hours/week) to provide technical leadership and execution for this high-priority migration project.
This role will focus on consolidating applications and services, migrating servers and applications from to AWS (production) and HyperV (local, non-production), and ensuring authentication, firewall, and VPN configurations are successfully transitioned.
Here is what you'll be doing on a day-to-day basis:
- Consolidate like applications and services prior to migration.
- Migrate up to 70 servers from to AWS (production) and HyperV (local, non-production).
- Transition all Linux authentications from LDAP to Active Directory (same account).
- Migrate applications hosted on those servers/services to AWS and HyperV.
- Configure and migrate the VPN tunnel.
- Migrate NSX firewall configurations to compatible AWS firewall configurations.
- Monitor outages and downtime, coordinating with stakeholders to minimize disruption.
- Document technical procedures, configurations, and migration steps for project closure.
Here is the type of person we are looking for:
- Bachelor’s Degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5–7 years of progressive systems administration experience in IT infrastructure, application migration, or data centre projects.
- Strong expertise with AWS hosting and HyperV environments.
- Hands-on experience with Linux and Windows systems administration.
- Proven ability to manage authentication systems (LDAP/AD) and VPN configurations.
- Familiarity with firewall technologies, including NSX and AWS-compatible firewalls.
- Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
- ITIL-based service environment experience is an asset.
- Relevant certifications (AWS SysOps, Microsoft Certified: Windows Server/HyperV, or equivalent) preferred.
