Bookkeeper – Payments, Merchant Services & Fintech


Help Build the Financial Backbone of a High-Growth Payments Organization


We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Bookkeeper who thrives in fast-paced, transaction-intensive environments and understands the unique complexities of the payments industry.

This is far more than a traditional bookkeeping role. You will play a critical part in managing the financial operations of a rapidly growing payments and fintech business, supporting everything from financial reporting and payroll to residuals processing and revenue operations.

The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in accounting and financial operations, coupled with experience supporting high-volume transaction environments where accuracy, accountability, and process discipline are essential.

What You'll Be Responsible For


Financial Operations & Bookkeeping

  • Maintain accurate general ledger activity across a high-volume transaction environment
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliations, including banking, processor, and merchant-related accounts
  • Lead month-end close activities and support financial reporting requirements
  • Prepare and maintain profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports
  • Establish and maintain audit-ready documentation and internal controls
  • Support external accounting partners, auditors, and compliance initiatives
  • Identify opportunities to improve reporting accuracy and operational efficiency


Payroll Administration

  • Manage end-to-end payroll processing with a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality
  • Ensure compliance with payroll tax requirements and reporting obligations
  • Maintain payroll records and perform account reconciliations
  • Coordinate employee onboarding, compensation changes, and offboarding activities
  • Recommend and implement payroll process improvements


Residuals & Partner Compensation

  • Calculate and process monthly residual payments for agents and referral partners
  • Reconcile processor reports and compensation agreements
  • Research and resolve discrepancies quickly and accurately
  • Maintain detailed records and reporting related to agent compensation
  • Support scalable processes for residual tracking and reporting


Accounts Receivable & Revenue Operations

  • Generate merchant invoices and billing statements
  • Monitor accounts receivable activity and proactively manage collections efforts
  • Collaborate with customer success, operations, and sales teams to resolve billing issues
  • Track transaction-based revenue, subscription billing, and other recurring revenue streams
  • Ensure revenue reporting aligns with contractual agreements and processor data
  • Identify automation opportunities that improve efficiency and scalability

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in bookkeeping, accounting, financial operations, or a related role
  • Experience managing payroll and financial reporting processes
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial controls
  • Background supporting high-volume transactional businesses, preferably in payments, fintech, SaaS, or financial services
  • Advanced proficiency with accounting platforms such as QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, or similar ERP systems
  • Strong Excel and Google Sheets capabilities, including reporting and analysis
  • Experience working with cloud-based collaboration and project management tools


Preferred Experience

  • Payments, merchant acquiring, merchant services, or fintech industry experience
  • Knowledge of residuals, agent compensation, and processor reporting
  • Familiarity with payment processors and gateway platforms
  • Experience with CRM systems such as Salesforce, HubSpot, or IRIS CRM
  • Exposure to revenue operations and financial process automation
