What You'll Do
- Own the administration, performance, availability, and security of enterprise production and development database environments.
- Lead database modernization initiatives, including migrations from on-premise SQL Server environments to AWS RDS and cloud-native architectures.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, tune, and optimize databases to ensure high availability, performance, and scalability.
- Design and implement backup, disaster recovery, replication, and business continuity strategies.
- Partner with software engineers to optimize database design, SQL performance, and application architecture.
- Build automation that streamlines database administration, deployments, monitoring, and operational processes.
- Support modern data initiatives, including cloud data pipelines, reporting, and business intelligence.
- Provide technical leadership, documentation, and best practices while serving as the database subject matter expert across the organization.
What You Bring
- 5+ years of enterprise database administration experience with a strong emphasis on PostgreSQL.
- Expertise supporting PostgreSQL and Microsoft SQL Server in both Linux and Windows environments.
- Hands-on experience with AWS technologies including RDS, Aurora, EC2, and cloud infrastructure.
- Strong background in database performance tuning, high availability, replication, backup, recovery, and security.
- Experience with scripting, automation, and supporting modern application architectures, including microservices.
- Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to perform well in high-availability production environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience administering Linux and Windows servers.
- AWS certification or advanced cloud database experience.
- Microsoft database certifications are a plus.
- Background supporting large-scale, high-transaction environments within fintech, payments, SaaS, or other mission-critical platforms is highly desirable.
