Investment Banking Associate - Technology Sector | San Francisco Bay Area
The Firm
A highly regarded boutique advisory firm with deep sector specialisation in technology and software transactions. The team operates at the intersection of high-growth and mature technology businesses, advising on complex strategic and financial transactions for both corporate and financial sponsor clients. With a lean, senior-heavy structure and a strong deal track record, this firm offers far greater deal exposure and career velocity than a comparable role at a bulge bracket.
The Role
We are working exclusively with a boutique investment bank to place an experienced Associate into their Bay Area team. You will sit at the centre of live transaction execution across M&A, growth capital, and strategic advisory mandates - working directly with senior dealmakers and client management teams from origination through to close.
This is the kind of role that accelerates careers. The team is small, the deals are real, and the learning curve is steep in the best possible way.
What You'll Be Doing
- Execute complex financial modelling and valuation across a range of methodologies (DCF, LBO, trading and transaction comparables)
- Build and own client-facing deliverables - CIMs, pitch books, management presentations and board materials - to an exceptionally high standard
- Drive sector research, market analysis and competitive positioning work to support both deal execution and business development
- Manage due diligence workstreams, coordinating across clients, advisors and counterparties with professionalism and precision
- Develop and mentor junior analysts, reviewing work and ensuring quality throughout
- Contribute actively to origination efforts as you grow into the team
Who We're Looking For
- 3+ years of experience in investment banking, with strong M&A execution credentials - OR equivalent experience in private equity, venture capital, corporate development, or strategy consulting with meaningful deal exposure
- Strong academic background in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Business, or a related discipline
- Best-in-class financial modelling and PowerPoint skills - you take genuine pride in the quality of your output
- Clear, confident communicator - written and verbal - with the presence to engage directly with clients and senior stakeholders
- Highly organised and cool under pressure with multiple live workstreams
- A self-starter who thrives in a collaborative, high-performance environment with minimal hand-holding
- U.S. work authorisation required
