Azure Solution Architect
Clients come to us when cloud strategy has to become a working architecture—secure, cost-aware, and ready for production. In this role you shape Azure solutions that executives can fund and engineering teams can deliver. Your designs decide whether a transformation stays on a slide or lands in the business with measurable outcomes.
Performance Objectives
- Lead discovery and translate business goals into an Azure target architecture, landing zone, and phased roadmap within the first engagement cycle.
- Design secure, scalable solutions across identity, networking, data, and application platforms that meet stated reliability, compliance, and cost targets.
- Produce decision-ready artifacts—architecture diagrams, trade-off analyses, and estimates—that win client approval and unblock delivery teams.
- Guide implementation squads through critical design choices so the built solution matches the approved architecture and acceptance criteria.
- Establish governance for subscriptions, identity, networking, and cost so environments stay consistent as programs scale.
- Quantify value: define success metrics, track cloud spend against plan, and recommend optimizations that protect margin and client ROI.
- Mentor architects and engineers so reusable patterns spread across accounts, not just one project.
Environment & Resources
You join a senior consulting practice that sells and delivers enterprise cloud programs. You partner with client sponsors, delivery leads, security, and data specialists, and you report to the architecture practice lead. Engagements draw on established Azure reference architectures, proposal support, and a bench of certified engineers. You set technical direction; delivery teams execute under your guidance.
Essential Qualifications
- Proven record designing and seeing through Azure solutions for complex enterprises—not diagrams alone, but systems that reached production.
- Deep command of Azure landing zones, identity (Entra ID), networking, and at least one major workload pattern: data platforms, integration, or application modernization.
- Ability to run architecture decisions with executives and engineers, including written trade-offs on risk, cost, and time.
- Hands-on fluency with Infrastructure as Code and secure-by-design practices sufficient to review and correct delivery work.
- Experience operating inside a consulting model: scoped engagements, client governance, and measurable outcomes.
Role Selling Points
- Architecture with a delivery mandate—you stay close enough to implementation to protect the design.
- Variety across industries, with problems large enough to require real trade-offs, not template deployments.
- A senior peer group and a practice that values reusable patterns over one-off heroics.
- Influence on how the firm sells and staffs Azure work, not only how one account is built.
