Position Overview

Title: Operations Manager

Department: Operations

Reports To: Head of Operations

As an Operations Manager, you will be responsible for supporting investment services with asset managers and financial institutions (SLAs), as well as assisting in the launch of new businesses, including retail funds, institutional accounts, and SLAs. This role requires a proactive approach to identifying areas for improvement, proposing actionable plans, and ensuring successful implementation.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage requests and inquiries related to SLAs.
  • Support the setup of new funds/accounts in collaboration with internal teams, global teams, and external asset managers.
  • Lead, co-lead, or participate in projects such as fund launches, fund closures, and regulatory changes.
  • Proactively engage in process design and reengineering to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision, ensuring timely and accurate task completion.
  • Maintain and develop expertise in fund accounting and investment operations.
  • Adhere to departmental policies and procedures to ensure compliance and operational excellence.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum of 7 years of operational experience in asset management firms or trust banks.
  • Strong knowledge of regulations and business procedures for separate accounts (Toshikomon) and Japan-domiciled mutual funds.
  • In-depth expertise in foreign financial instruments, including complex securities such as foreign REITs, U.S. mortgage bonds, U.S. municipal bonds, and non-listed derivatives (NDF, SWAPs preferred).
  • Experience in hedge funds, private debt, private equity, or real estate is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Self-motivated professional with logical thinking skills, capable of achieving goals with minimal oversight.
  • Global mindset with a "think globally, act locally" approach.
  • Native-level proficiency in Japanese and business-level English skills.


Work Schedule & Compensation

  • Working Hours: 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM (7 hours 30 minutes per day)
  • Holidays & Leave:
  • Two days off per week (Saturday, Sunday, and national holidays)
  • Year-end and New Year holidays
  • Annual paid leave (20 days)
  • Sick leave (6 days)
  • Compensation:
  • Base salary with an annual discretionary performance bonus
