Investment Banking Analyst | Technology (SaaS Focus)
Location: Austin, TX Experience: 6 months – 2 years (Investment Banking or Transaction Advisory)
The Role
We are seeking a high-performing Investment Banking Analyst to join our client, focusing on the Technology sector with an emphasis on Cybersecurity and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS). This is not a "pitching only" role; you will be deeply involved in the execution of live mandates, managing transactions from initial positioning through to closing.
The ideal candidate possesses a rare blend of traditional financial modeling excellence and the ability to dissect the complex unit economics that drive modern technology and services businesses.
Key Responsibilities
- Deal Execution: Support all stages of the M&A process, including drafting CIMs/Management Presentations, managing virtual data rooms, and facilitating due diligence.
- Financial Modeling: Build and maintain complex three-statement models, specifically tailored for SaaS and professional services business models.
- Data Transformation: Ingest large, "messy" data sets from clients to create clean, consumable outputs (e.g., cohort analysis, retention bridges, and utilization reports).
- Sector Analysis: Perform deep-dive research into the Cybersecurity landscape and broader Tech trends to support deal positioning.
Technical Requirements
- SaaS Expertise: Deep understanding of ARR/MRR, Churn (Logo vs. Net Revenue), CAC/LTV, and the Rule of 40.
- Services Insight: Familiarity with services-based unit economics (utilization, billable rates, and margin per head).
- Accounting Mastery: Solid grasp of GAAP, specifically revenue recognition (ASC 606) and the bridge between Cash, GAAP Revenue, and Bookings.
- Technical Stack: Advanced Excel (Table Stakes) and Google Sheets. Experience with Power Query or similar ETL tools for data manipulation is a significant plus.
Qualifications
- 6 months to 2 years of experience in Investment Banking, M&A, or a high-growth Corporate Development team.
- Full Deal Life Cycle: Preference for candidates who have worked on at least one transaction from kick-off to close.
- Sector Interest: A genuine passion for Technology and Cybersecurity.
- Academic: Strong academic record in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field.
