Overview

We are seeking a Lead or Senior Analyst to join our Client Operations & Transition Services team in Tokyo. This function is part of the broader InvesTech APAC group, which provides world-class operations support and scalable, technology-driven solutions to investors and clients globally.

This role will involve managing a wide range of daily operational tasks and ad-hoc activities related to client servicing, trade support, account onboarding, and transitions. The successful candidate will play a key role in streamlining operational processes to align with global best practices while addressing local market requirements.


Key Responsibilities


Daily Operations

  • Investment operations including trade execution support, FX transactions, derivatives processing, fund transfers, and corporate actions
  • Trade reconciliation and exception resolution
  • Processing of client cash flows (e.g., redemptions/contributions)
  • Oversight of referential security data and pricing
  • Support for and oversight of offshore teams, including training responsibilities

Ad-Hoc Activities

  • Investor support: performance data, product support, and cash flow management
  • Initiate and review new account setups, ensuring appropriate internal restrictions are applied
  • Support for client transitions such as mandate launches, terminations, in-kind asset flows, and portfolio restructuring
  • Manage onboarding documentation, coordinate with custodians, and ensure smooth market access
  • Operational risk monitoring and mitigation
  • Optimize and integrate offshore operational capabilities to enhance efficiency and scalability

Client & Internal Relationship Management

  • Act as the local operations contact for both clients and internal stakeholders (Client Group, Investment Management, Trading, etc.)
  • Develop strong relationships with trust and custodian banks to support operational efficiency and compliance with market standards
  • Stay informed of internal resources and organizational structure to effectively support operational workflows
  • Adapt to evolving team roles and contribute to defining best practices

Account Monitoring

  • Monitor trade activity and resolve discrepancies through communication with clients, brokers, and banks
  • Oversee daily overdraft positions and resolve cash imbalances
  • Manage client cash flow requests and ensure timely execution
  • Assist in cross-border fund operations, including cash flow, transfer, and transition support
  • Collaborate with global teams to build and implement efficient, scalable processes

Client Onboarding & Account Management

  • Manage account openings, closures, and restructurings in coordination with internal teams, clients, and custodians
  • Maintain accurate internal system records for compliance and reporting


Qualifications & Skills


Required

  • Bachelor’s degree with relevant experience in the financial industry, particularly in asset management or securities operations
  • Strong understanding of investment operations including FX, derivatives, and fund transfers
  • Knowledge of Japanese client channels and market practices (e.g., pensions, financial institutions, sub-advisory)
  • Fluent in both Japanese and English (written and verbal communication)

Preferred

  • Experience working with trust banks, custodians, or asset managers
  • Prior experience in client service roles
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive mindset
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks independently and across global teams
  • Effective communicator and collaborative team player
  • Project management experience, especially within global or regional initiatives
  • Sound judgment, risk-awareness, and ability to prioritize under pressure
  • Technologically adaptable and process-oriented with a drive for continuous improvement
  • Comfortable working across time zones and with international stakeholders
