Operating Partner (M&A)


Organization: Confidential (Next-Generation Acquisition Platform) Reports to: Lead Operating Partner Location: Remote (U.S.-based preferred) Compensation: Commission-based Commitment: 3-month minimum


Overview

Our client is building a next-generation platform for acquisition entrepreneurs, connecting capital, coaching, and deal flow for small business and lower-middle-market transactions. As an Operating Partner, you will work directly under the Lead Operating Partner to support clients through the entire M&A lifecycle, from sourcing and identifying quality deals to final execution.


Key Responsibilities


Deal Sourcing & Analysis

  • Manage a workload of deals and drive them through to closing/completion.
  • Utilize internal databases and external sites to match opportunities with specific client investment theses.
  • Evaluate deal financials to ensure solid performance and soundness.
  • Maintain detailed deal sheets for every client, tracking all presented and decisioned opportunities.


Client Management & Communication

  • Establish and manage a consistent meeting cadence with assigned clients.
  • Ensure all client data and deal sheets are clear and up to date.
  • Log all communication activity in the CRM to maintain accurate pipeline visibility.
  • Liaise with the M&A team and lenders to ensure deal progression.


Due Diligence

  • Perform initial due diligence and deal reviews on behalf of clients.
  • Review CIMs, financial statements, and related documents.
  • Depending on the client structure, there may be opportunities to stay on and operate the business post-acquisition.


Skills & Qualifications

  • Analytical Rigor: Excellent research skills and the ability to evaluate financial documents.
  • Client Relations: Strong verbal/written communication and client management skills.
  • Technical Proficiency: Comfortable with Excel/Google Sheets and CRM tools (e.g., HubSpot, GoHighLevel, Airtable, or ClientManager.io).
  • Traits: Self-motivated, resourceful, and highly detail-oriented.
  • Experience: Prior M&A or finance experience is helpful but not required; we value work ethic and curiosity.

New partners receive onboarding training covering our deal sourcing and due diligence processes, tracking tools, and finance checklists.
