About our client: Our client is a leading distributor of fuel, petroleum equipment and high-quality fuel asset maintenance services.


Primary Objective: The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role also includes oversight of Department of Transportation (DOT) compliance for fleet safety, driver qualification, and hazardous materials transportation. The EHS Manager works closely with all levels of the organization to foster a culture of safety, environmental responsibility, and regulatory compliance.


Key Responsibilities:

Environmental, Health, and Safety:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive EHS programs, policies, and
  • procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other relevant regulatory agencies.
  • Conduct risk assessments, job hazard analyses, site inspections, and implement
  • preventative measures.
  • Lead incident investigations, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain safety data sheets (SDS) and oversee chemical management.
  • Develop and deliver EHS training to employees and contractors.
  • Manage hazardous waste storage, labeling, transportation, and disposal in compliance
  • with RCRA and other applicable regulations.
  • Maintain and report environmental metrics, including emissions, waste, and energy use.
  • Implement training programs.


DOT Compliance:

  • Manage DOT compliance programs related to commercial vehicle operations.
  • Ensure proper driver qualification files are maintained (e.g., licenses, medical exams,
  • training records).
  • Oversee vehicle inspection, maintenance, and repair records in compliance with FMCSA
  • regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with Hours of Service (HOS), Drug and Alcohol Testing, and DOT
  • accident reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate training for drivers in DOT safety regulations and company policies.
  • Investigate and report DOT-related incidents and implement corrective actions.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field (preferred).
  • 10 years of experience in EHS management, preferably in manufacturing, logistics, or transportation.
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and DOT (FMCSA) regulations.
  • Extensive experience conducting safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Certification in EHS-related fields (e.g., CSP, CHMM, or similar) preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of DOT driver compliance systems (e.g., ELDs, driver logs) and fleet management tools.
  • Defensive driving trainer preferred.


Work Conditions:

  • Combination of office and field work, including warehouse, manufacturing, and transportation environments.
  • Requires travel to satellite locations or external sites up to 50% of the time in New York State and Pennsylvania.
  • Must be able to wear required PPE and pass applicable health assessments.


Salary Range: $75,000 to $90,000, depending on experience + monthly car allowance
